Sparky looks like he's at a loose end at the moment, apparently being overlooked for the 2 'big' vacancies i.e Villa/Chelsea.

Do you think your an attractive enough club for him to consider dropping down to try and get you up into the PL?

Im not saying it's going to happen but surely you'd be mad not to approach him.Im sure your 'Sir Craig' would relish working with him again, plus he's Welsh, alongside nearly all of his backroom henchies.

Im surprised it hasn't been mentioned in the press,or am i being unrealistic and it's a non-starter?

Ah, ok, so Bellamy likes him and he's Welsh.

He's limited tactically. We've just got rid of a tactically limited manager.
He's rooted to a single formation. We've just got rid of a manager rooted to a single formation.
He's a history of cutting and running in pursuit of better jobs.
He lets players get away with murder, meaning will let the dressing room get into disarray. We've just got rid of a manager who let the players get away with murder...
He's done averagely - not great - with money behind him. Has he ever had to rebuild?
Loves the older players. See Wales for that. We've just got rid of a manager who favoured older players over youngsters.

But Bellamy likes him and he's Welsh. Even though, as a gog, he's more scouse really than Welsh...

I think Hughes is on gardening leave from Fulham til the end of the month. This prevents him or his agent speaking to anyone until July. For that reason I can't see him coming here, especially as we are apparently going told who the new manager is in the next few days.

You're dumb enough to buy into the myth of Hughes.

He's lived off one good year for Wales; surrounded by two of the worst ever. Jumped ship to Blackburn, oh, but he didn't want to leave immediately, no. He wanted the glory of the England game. And let's gloss over the tactical flaws vs Russia, Italy, Serbia, eh? Plus younger players weren't getting the game time due to Hughes love for the over 30s.

Blackburn? Made them a middling side, with money being spent. Man City? Poor job, failed to make a team - Mancini has had that same problem but is showing signs of turning it around. Fulham? Roy Hodgson's side achieved. Under Hughes... regressed.

The stats, posted below, don't lie. He's an average manager. We've just fired an average manager.

TEAM FROM TO GAMES WON DRAWN LOST
Fulham 29 Jul, 2010 01 Jun, 2011 43 14 16 13
Man City 04 Jun, 2008 20 Dec, 2009 77 36 16 25
Blackburn 15 Sep, 2004 04 Jun, 2008 188 82 47 59

Hughes isn't, imo, anything more than an average manager with no real experience of having to rebuild a squad from scratch. Factor in the only tactic he knows is 4-5-1, hit on break...

Good morning Mr blackswan, I like your profile pic by the way
Thank you for your genuine comment, you sound like an ok kind of guy. In some cases I would agree with you but I don't think Mark Hughes is the answer for Cardiff City even if he did want to come here. I'm not saying that he isn't good enough for us but what I am saying is that I wouldn't want his style of management at our club for the reasons that has already been mentioned by some of my fellow Bluebirds fans. We need a manager like Martin O'neil, (my personal favourite), or somebody like, dare I say it, Brendon Rodgers.
I would be happy with a BR style manager if we can't get MON and if that's the case then I would be happy with Chris Hughton, Roberto Di Matteo or Malky Macay.
I do see where you're coming from though when you suggest MH but I don't think he is the type of manager that us fans want but hey, what do we know.
By the way good luck in the Premier League, no sour grapes here, you deserved it. I'll probably be slated for that :? but its the truth.

I wouldn't go near him, very much in the Dave Jones mould, plays not to lose, no Plan B, etc.

I rememeber Wales v Russia, did al;l the hard work in Russia and got a draw al he had to do was to Win at Home, so played 4 5 1, and then when they scored, he kept thing exactly the same Wales never looked like scorring on the night.

Good post Mr Blackswan,

Does anyone know what exactly Mark Hughes is playing at ? There he is , manager of a decent enough , mid-table, Premier League side, and he walks away. Nothing obvious lined up. Describes himself as 'an ambitious young manager'. 47 is not that young. Others on this thread have pointed out his failings. But he fancies himself as a good manager, so best of luck to him.

Can't imagine him wanting to come here though. Looks like he is aiming for a top PL side. But where ?

If we assume Hiddink is going to Chelsea and Martinez is going to Villa, then ours is the top managers job available in Britain....

If Matinez is going to Villa then the job at Wigan would be available and they are in the Premier League but they are not a bigger club than ours so I suppose you're right, ours would be the top managers job in Britain. :D

Which brings me to a very valid point to really think about guys........
Chelsea are on the verge of getting Gus Hiddink, Fulham have appointed Martin Jol and Aston Villa are on the verge of getting Roberto Martinez. So, with them three jobs gone or nearly gone, that leaves Martin O'neil, (who wants to get back into management), with no exciting PL club for him to go too. Conclusion, I hope is: Mark Hughes to Wigan and Martin O'neil to Cardiff City.
Think about it lads.

Martinez is staying at Wigan (according to BBC) - so Villa job still available. Would O'Neill go back there? Would they want him? Wouldn't have thought so - but I can't see him coming to the City.

I like the sound of MacKay - thought Watford played some good football under him.
