Selling Chopra...

Thu Jun 09, 2011 1:51 pm

Does the sale of Chopra mean that a new manager is already lined up and has sanctioned the sale? I presume that it sends out a terrible message to potenaial managerial candidates that we are selling a player of Chopra's ability.

Alternatively could it be that Chopra is seen as a bad influence in the dressing room and the board want shot of him to ensure that a fresh start can be made with the new manager in place? Is he seen as some kind of ring leader?

Personally I would like to think it's that he's regarded as a bad influence, if so good riddance.

Good point that, hadn't thought of it that way! Surely the new man must've been told the situation or even asked? Bloody hope so!!

Does it mean that they have players lined up to come in?

We only have Parkin and Jarivis as strikers now!

I have to say its a big deciscion to great rid of Chopra now

That's why I can't help but think there's more to it than there seems. Surely either the club or new manager do not want to see him in a Cardiff shirt next season?

It's an extremely unusual time to accept a bid for a player that, when fit, is easily one of the best at Championship level.

If he is seen as someone who brings a negative unprofessional attitude to the club and any potential manager has been made aware of the reason for the sale I applaud the decision. Let's hope that's the proviso. If not there may be a few potential managers having second thoughts right now.

Lets hope it's the right decision and made for the right reasons

I was surprised when they got rid of McCormack, however that was because he was on the piss all the time and I think that was right decision

If the new manager is looking at a wage/transfer budget of £20m I'm sure he will get over the loss of Chopra. Personally I think taking over CCFC at this time is a great oppotunity for whoever takes the helm as he basically he has a clean slate with loads of bargins to be had.

That's true, it is a great time and a great opportunity. I'm not sure that selling one of the top 2-3 strikers in the league would make any possible manager more inclined to believe that we have the finances you suggest however.

Earnie or Chopra? I'd take Chopra every time.

Grange town,
As you said "when fit" and he obviously is not and he has his demons to deal with which are going to prevent him ever been the player he was/should still be
Good decision to sell on and take the cash

bit disappointed with the fee especially when they bid 3mil last season wasn't it?
thought we get a bit over 2mil for him but i'm sure we can find a player who really wants to play for us and will bang in the goals.
