Who should we have signed?????

Thu Jun 09, 2011 10:50 am

Of the players that have signed for other clubs in the time between Jones' dismissal and now, who should we hav signed and who would we have had a realistic chance of bringing in?

Because I'm seeing some people shitting themselves already saying "ohh, we're running out of time" - and that other clubs are taking players we could've signed.

But who are these phantom players?

Someone, please, explain, cos I'm stumped. :?

Tyson and King are 2 we could have been looking at. King in particular very decent player at this level. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Tyson flopped at perennial bottlers Forest and King did... nothing at Coventry. Not convinced.

theres one keeper gone, and were gonna need one if heaton is as bad as the reports say about his nerves

BLACK CATS TARGET KEIRAN WESTWOOD
Sunderland are reportedly set to win the race for Coventry goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.

The highly-rated shot-stopped is available on a free transfer after reaching the end of his contract with the Championship side at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues were keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international but have been unable to agree fresh terms with their No.1

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is in the market for a new goalkeeper with continued concerns over Craig Gordon's long-term fitness.

And the Wearside club look to have jumped ahead of Everton and Leicester in the battle for Westwood's signature.

Bruce confirmed at the end of last month that they would not be opening new contract talks with Gordon until he has recovered from a recent knee operation.

Thanks Merlin, someone with a bit of sense! ;)

As for Westwood, I still don't believe we need a new keeper. Marshall and Heaton have both proven themselves and the sooner we get over our rotten bad luck with goalkeeping injuries the more set we'll look as a defensive unit - anything that isn't Bywater is an improvement mind!

think we lost out there :(
Skysports.com understands Bolton have had an initial bid for Cameron Jerome turned down by Birmingham.

The Blues were relegated from the Premier League on the last day of the season and now face a battle to keep hold of their key players.

Striker Jerome is understood to have been targeted by Wanderers boss Owen Coyle but their approach has been rebuffed by City.

The 24-year-old only hit five goals last term but Birmingham are thought to be holding out for a fee of around £8million.

Transfer deals take time to complete,Doh, just some of the names being veted about. not saying all are any good butt.
Alan Smith
Marlon King
Kieron Dyer
Kevin Nolan
Wayne Routledge
Nyron Nosworthy
Jonathn Greening
D J Cambell
John Pansil
Domansy Kamara
Ched Evans
Now I feel I'm doing what our new manager should be doing and scouring the maket for players, if he was in place.Doh

Alan Smith
Unrealistic
Marlon King
Not good enough
Kieron Dyer
Not good enough (is he even still alive?)
Kevin Nolan
Newcastle's pivot. More chance of me shagging Lucie Jones.
Wayne Routledge
QPR ring any bells?
Nyron Nosworthy
Wasn't good enough for Sheffield Utd, won't be for us on the wages he'd come with
Jonathn Greening
Is he available? Thought he was at Fulham/WBA or someone like that?
D J Cambell
No thanks. Rather think he's a Blackpool player off to a Premiership side anyway
John Pansil
Totally unrealistic, massive massive wages for a World Cup player
Domansy Kamara
Leicester.
Ched Evans
If you want a shitter, lazier replacement for Bothroyd with a penchant for post-training session KFC's then by all means, throw our money at him.

There is no clock to tick until the end of this month.

Have patience and trust the board.

Fine it's all about opinions but really surprised you think King did nothing at Coventry 13 goals in 24 appearances.

Not much at all :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

There's certainly better out there imo (cough Earnie cough!)

Besides, I'm not sure I'd want him here anyway given his "history". If he had a goalscoring record like Cristiano Ronaldo maybe I'd be able to put it past me but...

Agreed he is a piece of work but still an effective footballer at this level. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

What the hell are you talking about. King was brilliant for Coventry, he finished as their top scorer and won their player of the year award. Their fans are gutted that he's leaving.
