Euro 2012 Poland/Ukraine violence

Anyone else reckon its gonna be proper naughty in Poland/Ukraine in Euro 2012. The other half being Polish I now keep one eye on the Polish football scene and try to watch game on Polsat TV, The Polish FA were disturbed by scenes at their recent cup final when thousands invaded the pitch, Polish fans away in Latvia the other month caused chaos in a friendly fixture and as a result the authorities are trying to ban away fans from Derby matches. Whats happening now is that their meeting up in town centres etc and the plan seems to have backfired. They reckon there's still around 5,000 hardcore hooligans in Poland and they cant wait to have a crack at the English and Germans etc on home soil next year. Heres an article on a game a few days ago where despite the ban it all kicked off.

Poland's bid to clamp down on football violence by banning all supporters from watching the games backfired when soccer fans were refused entry to a stadium in Radom, Poland.

The furious fans from rival local teams Radomiakiem Radom and Bronia Radom refused to accept the ruling and over 1,000 joined in a pitched battle with police. The strict new anti-hooligan laws preventing fans from watching live games were introduced last month after the Polish Cup final when fans invaded the pitch, demolished barriers and attacked police.

The riot, seen by representatives from European football body UEFA and the government, has been condemned by Polish officials, and prime Minister Donald Tusk, whose country is due to co-host the 2012 European Championships with the Ukraine, oversaw the new rules in a bid to clean up the game's image.

Poland has already been criticised by UEFA officials over hooliganism, which it says is destroying the country's image. However, the new rules failed to help - simply moving the violence out of the stadium and onto the streets where the fans - instead of going home - turned on the cops, throwing metal bars, bottles and rocks.

Police responded by firing rubber bullets, tear gas and water canons into the mob. Seven police officers were injured and 100 hooligans detained.

Just got back from the Ukraine its a great city but i wouldnt want to tangle with their police

True story - I was working a train through Fife a few weeks back and we stopped at Leuchars (Lookers!) - this c**t flies by me on a bmx shouting "EAST FIFE ICF YOU'RE ALL GETTING f*cking STABBED IN THE MORNING" then carried on straight back up the ramp and out of the station. One of the weirdest things ever, and weirder still it's f*cking 20 miles away from where East Fife play.

That sums it up mate - always found it one of those gay places where they welcome you into their pubs and pick your pockets while they chat away to you and one of the few places where I got served drink while underage
