LEON JEANNE AND CARDIFF CITY

Mon Jun 06, 2011 4:23 pm

Those of you who have followed my posts on Leon Jeanne's comeback attempt over the last few months will know that he has been offered the chance by Gus Poyet to resurrect his career at Brighton this summer. Leon has worked incredibly hard to get fully fit and is confident that if he can get a full pre-season under his belt he will be able to play championship football this season.

However, over the weekend Leon turned out for the Cardiff City Legends team in a charity game. Admittedly the opposition wasnt the best, and the game was not full pelt but some of the tricks Leon pulled out of the bag defied belief. At one point he nutmegged his marker 3 times in the space of 10 seconds which earned the cheers of the crowd before flicking the ball up and volleying an inch perfect ball to Paul Giles on the opposite side of the pitch. After the game Roger Gibbins (who now works in the hospitality area for City) approached Leon and told him it would be a shame if he signed for Brighton as he could still do a job for City. Leon is of course a huge City fan, he still attends games now, and he has always been gutted at the way his career ended here before. Roger told Leon that if he fancied doing pre -season with us he would speak to the club and see if something could be sorted out. Obviously, with no manager currently in place this is difficult but it is certainly a termpting prospect for Leon to finally right some wrongs for his home town club.

So the big question is, if Leon Jeanne came through pre season and was offered a contract, would you welcome him back?

I never saw him play, but reading up on his past; no. Not a chance.

how old is he now?

With open arms The lad has had many negative influences in his life and he seems to pulled himself together and all for giving a 2nd chance When Peter Crouch states in his book he is the best player he has ever played with he must be worth a look when you consider the players he has played with

27/28 now, my mother lived in browning close when he grew up said he was an amazing talent.

only if he was good enough, sober enough and took weekly drug tests

Re: LEON JEANNE AND CARDIFF CITY

He is 30 years old but despite being still slightly overweight he was regularly leading sprinting drills at bath city training sessions! With a full pre season he could be one of our quickest players

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Jeanne ive just read this on leon and the thing is after all the troubles we had last season with drinking amongst our players can we really afford to take the risk of having a player with problems! ... we need to be shot of all that once and for all this year! .... to be honest away from south wales and to brighton might help him more than being around all his mates in south wales! .... just my opinion!

Leon realizes he will be under intense scrutiny and would happily take any required tests! In fact he welcomes them to prove he has turned his life around

If he is good enough and professional enough, why not? He has a track record but if you want to go through the habits of players then you might end up with a very restricted list!

I know Leon very well, played football in school with him and have know him for years, top lad,he's a school year younger than me so he's 29/30 now and I'd love to see him play for city... I will say by far the biggest natural talent you will find, just a shame things worked out like they did.

Seen him a few weeks back and he knew I lost over 6 stone and we were chatting about him dropping 3 stone, he was really enthusiastic! to get his fitness back must of took a hell of a lot of work!

Stranger things have happened!

Give him a chance, I say.

Re: LEON JEANNE AND CARDIFF CITY

If we were willing to give the likes of JLS a chance then I think we owe it to Leon to give him that chance.

I remember seeing him play at Merthyr in a Pre-Season Friendly. I remembered saying that we have the next Robin Friday on the pitch.

There is not a City Supporter who would not have Robin Friday back in the side if he were alive today - and I think we need to offer Leon that opportunity.

After hearing Leon's difficulties all those years ago I was somewhat surprised that he is still alive and it is a tremendous credit to him that he has not only turned his life around but also reached a standard where he is being considered as fit enough to play alongside Craig Bellamy. That, to me, speaks volumes.

Its a big Well Done from me and a big welcome should the club choose to offer him a contract

Though he was playing against shit opposition when he was first here.
His talent shone through. just a shame he let the demons get hold of him.
Just think the game has moved on for him but I would love him to prove us wrong.

Give him a shot.

Bellers would be able to mind him til he gets back on his feet.

Parkin or LJ?

EASY...........:ayatollah:

We owe Leon nothing. He made his bed and has to lie in it. Having lived on the estate I
was fully aware of the daftness he used to get up to and he wasnt exactly discreet.

However. Would I myself give him another chance?

Definitely.

He wasnt a child molester or a rapist.

He had an incredible talent

He's had the mental strength to turn his life around, that could make him a strong player.

But its a massive leap from non-league football to the Championship. Fitness levels,
skill levels... totally different world. If he was to train with the Club over the summer
and showed promise.... yeh, give the lad another crack, older, wiser... we all grow up!!!

it costs nothing to give Leonne a chance, and having had the privilege of seeing him play on several occasions, I would love to think he could recapture some of that ability and perform once again in the blue of City....

I'd love to see him in a blue shirt again. Never forgotten his run and cross for earnie to score v Brighton.

Give him a performance related contract.

He's obviously grown up (haven't we all at some point??) so I say give the lad a second chance....

EVERYONE deserves that....and he might just turn out to be the little genius we thought we were getting last time!!

Re: LEON JEANNE AND CARDIFF CITY

Mon Jun 06, 2011 6:25 pm

No from me.

Club paid for Priory trips - twice.

Hammam stood up for him, vouched for him to FAW.

And how was the club repaid? Tap water passed off as a urine sample. Jeanne continues playing, getting paid, through a
technicality that no club official was present when he gave the fake sample.

Oh, yes, and there was his "article" in Zoo, where he claimed an "England international" got him into charlie. An unnamed "England international". Funny that.

Second chance? he's had far more than that in his career. No more at this club, please.

Definatley let him do the pre season training with the club. he is a very talented player, even if we used him as an impact player worth a gamble the few times i watched him play i was impressed, didnt he play against the jacks in the final of the faw welsh cup when kav scored the winner?

Re: LEON JEANNE AND CARDIFF CITY

Mon Jun 06, 2011 6:34 pm

Im already imagining the scene:

deep into Injury time, we need to score a winner to go up in the last game of the season
away to erm...... whoever. Leon picks up the ball just inside his own half, flicks
the ball around his marker and off he goes. Bellamy tear-arsing up the left wing
dragging two defenders with him. Leon feints to knock one through to Craig...
loses another defender, edge of the box now......

bang!!!!

Rifles one into the top corner... right in front of 8,000 City fans... Leon sprints up to
the now crazed fans, grabs a Llanrumney Bluebirds flag, kisses it, Craig Bellamy runs
up to him, kisses his boot. The referee decides f**k it, cos he's near the halfway line
anyway... blows up... City have done it... Thousands flood onto the pitch... Leon
and Bellamy are held high by adoring supporters.......

FFS!!!! stop it man
