Is anyone else pessimistic about the potential appointment of Chris Hughton as new Cardiff manager? I am. I appreciate he's got a lot of experience, but the vast majority of his managerial career has been spent as an assistant. He undoubtedly inherited an excellent Newcastle squad, with strong leaders and the side pretty much picked itself during their stint in The Championship. I felt it was harsh for him to get sacked at Newcastle given promotion/premier league position, but surely there was a reason for him being sacked?
I just think he'sthe wrong manager at the wrong time. Surely the time is right for someone a bit younger and hungrier?

I don't understand the obsession with the next manager being "young and hungry". What does that actually mean?
Neil Warnock is 62, Ian Holloway is 48, Hughton is 52, Tony Pulis is 53, Mick McCarthy is 52. Case rested.

I would be happy with Hughton, although he wouldn't be my first choice, that would be Di Matteo. Who do you boys want?

Wonder how Norwich fans felt when Lambert was appointed, do'nt think he'd managed at a high level prior. Or swansea and West Brom fans when Brenda and Di Matteo respectively were appointed. Do'nt know why everyone is putting Houghton down, is coaching experience alone is pretty decent.

Lambert was in charge of the Colchester team that annihilated Norwich 7-0 just weeks before wasn't it? They probably felt quite good! :p

So are you saying, it's not important what the new manager has acheived, it's how he sets his team up to play. Bingo, that's the point i'm trying to make. Although it's been said Hughton "inherited" a good side, he still had to mould them into winners.
