A forum for all things Cardiff City

Got told this afternoon that Sky Andrew the agent of Jay Bothroyd has been back in touch with Cardiff City over the possibility of Jay returning to the club.
What I was told was that Sky Andrew asked for a wage of £14k per week for Jay.
Remember that Jay was offered £9k per week at the beginning of the season, which was an extra £1k per week than the contract he was on.
I am told that the club have turned the 'offer' down. Whether or not that depends on the new manager would suggest the strongest reason for City turning it down, even though this was not the reason given to me but there again no reason was given.

Proof that he's struggling to find a club?

No concrete offer from the premiership then I'm guessing .

I don't want him back.
1) With the players on the drink, we need new players who care (not drinking himself)
2) Was happy to walk in January when other clubs wanted him
Scott Sinclair could easily move to a bigger club after his performances this season but has expressed his commitment to Swansea. Thats the type of players we need, not uncommitted players like Jay who are ready to jump ship as soon as possible.
He was exceptional in the first half of the season, I'll admit. However, once he got his England call, thought he was guaranteed a move to a bigger club, he stopped putting the effort in.

offer him 7k.

undoubted how good he is, I think there is too much water under the bridge now, also howis any new potential manager going to react when he finds new signings he didnt want. I am sure he will end up in the premiership and go back to being another wasted talent.

£14k a week for an England striker who was our top scorer last season, £6k a week less than Fatty Boozy Gambly Chops seems a snip to me.

No premiership club wanting him? Theres a surprise.
Absolutely love it if Huw Jenkins calls.

By the time the Season had finished Jay looked a different player. Not the one that got chosen for England.

Or that he's going to say to Swansea they have to break their wage policy to sign him as Cardiff have offered him 14k.
As we know he can play, he was outstanding against QPR, will another manager be able to get that out of him though (and will they want the hastle?).

Any player who leaves, and decides to come back because they are unable to find a club doesn't get my vote. We need players who actually want to play for the club. Take the same path as Blackpool & Swansea, pay players low wages and high bonus's so they have to work for their money. Instead we do it the other way around.

No thank you.
Still haurtubg from drinkgate.
Disgrace.......even if he werent drinking he was there till late o'clock.
MOVE ON.
Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:53 pm
If our new manager wants him then I want him!!!!!!!!!!!!!We need to start off on the right foot and back our manager 100% irespective of our opinions of the players he/she is about to bring in

His comments about keeping Dave Jones on at the end of the season, coupled with his schizophenic performances, mean it's a no from me too. It wasn't just that he didn't score goals - it was the manner in which he performed.
And after yet another season of bottling, surely he should've put the club first and not suggested DJ be kept on - something which even the club agreed with some of the fans on.
Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:56 pm
I would take him back, the squad we've got is threadbare as it is,jay could flourish under a new manager
Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:56 pm
f**k me you don't want him back.
Your barking mad.
OK he lost form.
Don't most footballers.
The new manager should get the option to resign him.
Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:58 pm
as much as he frustrates the life out of me, if we are paying hudson £10k, then surely on the first half of the season he is worth £14k a week!! but have to say he was dissapointing towards the end of the season & has shown no loyalty to the club!!
i still think he's worth more than 9k a week!!
Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:58 pm
I'd definitely have him back for 10-12k per week, he's better than anything we're gonna sign
sign him up for 4 years i say

Sorry carl, just my opinion but i dont want the waster back at cardiff, he has done piss all since he was capped, he was one of those who was out on the piss before a vital game and now after trying to sell his body to the highest bidder (which seems there are not many) he is thinking of coming back, jay go and do one!!!!

England striker?
Called up after every striker known to man withdrew....
Top scorer? Faded after a good start. Wasn't Whitts our top scorer the season before?
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:01 pm
I would offer Jay £9k per week plus the following bonus structure:
£2k per goal scored
£2k - If winning marging is by 2 goals....
£3k - " " " " " 3 "
£4k - " " " " " 4 " etc etc
Gives him reason to make sure he hits the back of the net. Basic of £9k plus another £4k bonus if he scores 2 goals in a 2-0 win.
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:04 pm
Got to take him back.
His ability is unquestionable and can create goals from nothing.
I understand some people aren't happy with the way Jay has behaved, but he will be very hard to replace and is a class player at this level.
I personally like Jay and was sad to see him leave the club...
