In all seriousness, all jokes aside. Why do you have a problem with Hymns and Arias. Most fans of English teams say it sounds very good whilst sung by our fans, it's only you lot that complain about it.

Most, including myself, are struggling to understand why football supporters would want to sing a rugby song, about a rugby trip to Twickenham?

I don't know if you've noticed or not but we sing the chorus only. There are no references to rugby in the chorus. "And we were singing, hymns and arias, land of my fathers, ar hyd y nos" and personally I think it sounds great whilst sung by thousands of fans together and so do many other people, with the exception of you boys of course.

It seems Cardiff have a problem with being Welsh at times, it was only recently people on here were complaining about your stadium announcer announcing things in Welsh!

Back in the 80s we used to sing Hymns and Arias at away games - maybe not regularly but definitely heard it

All jokes aside, a lot of us Bluebirds really hate egg-chasing. That's why we find it strange that football fans sing their songs. Have a look at 'ccfc the movie' on youtube. Jonathan Owen's short (7 minutes) film before the 2008 Cup Final. You might get the drift.

Can live with Swansea as the top team in Wales, but not egg songs at the football

Enjoy your season :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

To hate it to that extent is strange. Rugby is a crap sport indeed, but just don't watch it, or play it. Do you also hate say Lacrosse with a similar passion?

I'm not sure that anyone has a problem with being Welsh. Personally i'm a proud Welshman. I don't understand why any football supporter would want to sing a rugby song, written for rugby, about rugby?

Each to their own and all that...

Of course they'd sing a rugby song.

They play in a rugby stadium.

With smaller attendances than the rugby team...

As a Jack you're bound to support your use of Hymns and Arias. Good for you that it's just the chorus, but it's still a rugby song.

As i said, i don't understand it, but each to their own.

If you could point out where i have been unfair towards the Jacks promotion i'd be most grateful.

Re: Swansea singing Rugby songs

each to their own i say if they want to sing it let them, if we as Cardiff fans decide that a rugby song has no place at a football match then lets make sure Cardiff fans dont sing it. There are some strange songs sung by football fans across the country which have no relevance to football or their nation, take 'Delilah' for example sung by Stoke City, why they decided that was relevant to their club i dont know but they adopted it. If swansea wants to sing Hymns and Arias i have no problem with it, saying that it wont stop me from winding them up when i point out it is a rugby song, just for the banter honest lol. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Hymns and Arias is OK.bETTER THAN STAND UP IF YOU HATE sWANSEAS AND MEN OF HARLECH.

iT SOUNDED GOOD ON THE tv.

Re: Swansea singing Rugby songs

Wed Jun 01, 2011 12:27 pm

I've always liked Men of Harlech. When it's sung properly that is.

Re: Swansea singing Rugby songs

Wed Jun 01, 2011 12:35 pm

Dont have any issues it with it myself, I remember even Wales with Terry Yorath as fans we used to sign it. Swansea are Welsh so hence they sing it, wrexham sing men of harlech with the words etc
