Barcelona, Swanselona, have we just entered a new era?

The two biggest games over the weekend, saw teams prevail who are noted for their passing game, ok so Swansea are not anywhere in the same league as Barca, however, the philosophy is similar. Swansea aim for 600 passes a game, 60% possession, Barca achieve more like 800 passes. I think a good few managers and teams next year, will take up this philosophy, and really try to pass through teams. DJ, has gone more and more route one as he's gone on. Lets be honest, how boring and poor were we in certain games last year, especially when you consider that we have Bellamy and Chopra. Whoever we get, we need someone who is going to embrace this new era in football. Holloway anyone?

Problem is, play the way Swansea do, you'll get reduced crowds - 50% who know nothing about football leaving because it's "boring".

I remember in the bad old days, we kept posession for a while, passed back to Hallworth. "FFS, GET IT FORWARD" yelled the loyal fans around. We built up from the back, another ten passes or so... and scored. Without a long ball involved...

I take our point, Swansea were boring last year, because they didn't have an end product, no goal scorer, they added Sinclair, and bingo, their playing good possession football and scoring goals. I for one would take their style of play over ours last season, both more entertaining and obviously got them promoted.
