Serious Question

Sat May 28, 2011 8:20 am

With SSN reporting this morning that Sam Allardyce is set to be named the West Ham boss we have to face up to the fact that it is more liely than not that Dave Jones is going to be our manager come the first day of the season.

If we had the money to fire him he would have been gone by now, so our only hope is that:

(1) he fancies another job
(2) he decides he's had enough and bows to fans pressure.

(1) He fancies another job

Don't really see this happening if the West Ham job does go to Allardyce. As has been written many times on this forum he is very well paid at about £800k p/a and there won't be many Championship sides prepared to pay anything like that and there aren't many jobs going in the Premier League. Unfortunately for us I don't see Chelsea knocking on his door!!

(2) He walks

Highly unlikely to happen. I can't blame him for not wanting to walk away from an £800k salary. At the end of the day if my boss wasn't too keen on me - I would keep an eye out for a job elsewhere, but I probably wouldn't walk away from my job without having another lined.

All this adds up to Dave being in charge going forward.

I feel that this forum is representative of the views of the majority of fans and so it is fair to say that the majority want him gone. At the end of the day we support the team and the players wearing the shirt - but it is going to be seriouly tough to get hyped up for this coming season with Dave in charge.

How would we respond to him being charge first day of the season?

I fear that if the anti Dave movement that was present towards the end of the Reading game ("you're getting scaked in the morning" chants) start up early doors next season then we could have a relegation battle on our hands :( All this was the Jacks likely to be in the Premier League next season :(

It's a shambles. We have a very thin squad, no trust in the manager and seemingly no direction from the Board/Owners - not a good formula for success.

Tough times ahead I feel :(

i would be gutted if he was in charge next season, but as you say it looks more likely every day, i would still support the club as ever, remember, theres always a bright side, i just can't find it at the moment

Our squad was always going to be thin at this stage of the season due to the loan players going back to their parent clubs, at least we don,t have to pay the wages of 10 players (7 loans + 3 out of contract) during the summer months when there is very little income coming in. As for dave jones i don,t see how he can stay at the club next season, at least 50% of the fans have lost faith in his ability to take us any further, he,s not stupid, he will know how the fans are feeling after yet another bootle job by a bunch of no hopers who don,t give a monkeys arse for cardiff city, (apart from the obvious exceptions) the anger could be worse come monday tea time when a team with half of our wage bill and arguably half of our squads ability make the promised land before us. Dave jones will not resign unless he has another job to go to which is looking more and more not the case, what i think / hoping is that the malaysians are negotiating a pay off deal with dj which leaves both parties happy with the outcome then we can bring someone else in with new ideas and methods because in my opinion change is now needed!!!!

think it depends on whether dj wants to stay.
I dont think the board are clued up enough to remove him and replace him with a better manager.
Dont think they want to make that decision then be left with the job of having to find a better replacement.

I also disagee that this board represents a majoriity of the fans, I think unfortunately there is a big divide amongst the fans of this club and that can be seen in the childish attitude between the 2 messageboards.

I post on both boards you are right, there is a divide, but i think that is more to do with sam hammam than dave jones, i think at least 50% of the posters on mike morris board want dave jones out as well!!!!

Yes, I also feel the board don't have the appetite or expertise to sack him and then find a replacement! What a shambles ! I have to say though that I don't know a single city fan who wants jones to stay, most don't use this or mikes board so I would suggest that the prevailing feeling is that the majority of the fans want him gone! Going to be a tough summer, and an even tougher season if jones stays
