Abdoulaye Faye

Just heard he's been released by Stoke, and I honestly believe that he could be a fantastic signing for us if we could get him, he's a strong, dependable, solid centre half which is what we need at the moment, in my opinion, he won Stoke's player of the year a couple of seasons ago and the only reason he couldn't get in their team this season was because of Huth and Shawcross.

But yeah anyway, I feel really strongly that if we could get this guy, he would be the perfect centre half signing we need at the moment, but he may well go to another Premier League club. Just wondering what everyone else thinks?

I would consider trying for Loovens again too, whether Faye came or not... also, David Murphy who has been released by Birmingham I think, is a very, very good left back, which was very much our problem position last season.

p.s. I really hope the Warnock rumour is true, I couldn't think of a manager I'd want at Cardiff more

Could be a good shout. Loovens ? Nah he has said a dozen times he does not want to come back. I have had my fill of players not wanting to be here, I want players with passion from now on And Warnock i would love it

I reckon we need to make a centre back in the mould of Faye our priority this summer though

He's had offers from other top leagues. No chance of him playing in the Championship.

We only need a full back, be it left or right sided. Centre back depth with Keinan, Gerrard, Hudson and hopefully one younger lad with potential, who will keep the other 3 on their toes. Quinn right back, Kev left back. Darcy and someone else for backup.

We do need a defender but we need midfielders more

and as far as faye goes I dont rate him at stoke

i definitely think we need atleast one better centre half than the 3 you mentioned, i mean those 3 are decent but not top standard in my opinion

Hudson had a great season but i still think we need someone else...
after Keinan's stupidity in the semi-final, i not sure id trust him in big game situations again...

and Gerrard is just awful, if committed though, in my opinion... ive seen better distribution skills in Sunday League players, but if you want a centre half that just lumps the ball aimlessly every time he gets put under a bit of pressure, or get's turned easier than Hudson at his worst, but shows a bit of passion, then Gerrard's the answer

maybe its not but it sounds like the player i saw play for Cardiff for a season

he probably just got player of the season because they had no other stand out player in the squad and he was the most committed kind of player, thats the way fans think, i think

ive just never rated him personally

i think we need a lot better quality defenders than Gerrard or Keinan if we want to get promoted
