THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION

I am still finding it hard to get over the season just gone, I still can't understand how we are not in the Premier League with the squad we just had. Bothroyd, Burke, Chopra, Keinan, McNaughton, Olofinjana, Whittingham, Hudson and Bellamy are all Premier League standard players.

We should have gone up, we all know that now. Dave Jones knows it. The Malaysians know it. Steve Borley and Gethin know it. So, what happens now? That is the question. I do have my doubts about the manager, as is natural. Any sane human being would after what happened since Christmas.

Is it time for him to go? This is delicate, very delicate. He could go now and we go on to finish in the top two next season. Alternatively, he could stay and we have a great season. That is not all, though, and I don't think we will be there or thereabouts. Another scenario is he could stay and we struggle, or he can go and we get relegated.

I honestly feel that last season was the chance. With the players i've already mentioned, together with the 2nd spot anyone's, it was the best chance we'll get. Now, we've lost ten or so players and i'm sure more will go over the Summer. Then, we have to make sure that the players who come in are up to it.

I think we will be fighting relegation, whoever is in charge. I also believe that even if they don't win on Monday, the Jacks will be in the top flight before us. Having said that, I believe we will be there within 10 years. If we do get Bellamy, then that could be what attracts better players and proves me wrong!

You have to look at QPR. Who in our current team would get into their first XI? I'd say two, maybe three. McNaughton, Keinan and Whittingham. Whereas there are a handful from their side who would get in our team. However, with the team we had last season, many more would have been good enough. That is why we should have gone up.

Whether Dave Jones stays or goes, we're all Cardiff City fans and we all have opinions on things. I'm sure many are getting frustrated but just remember this. Think what we have been through as supporters, it's been a whole lot worse than this.

We have the best fans in the World, the best stadium in the World and now - the best forum in the World. Whatever happens today, tomorrow or this time in 10 years time... We are Cardiff City. We WILL support our team better than any other fans.

Im still in shock and lost for words, Being a City fan is just one big kick in the balls. But that also comes with highs. Thats why we do it.

I don't think we will be anywhere near the bottom next year, we have a good defence and still have an ok Midfield.

On the form of most of those players last year, I don't thimk any of them did themselves justice at all, I would only say MacNaughton was consistent, as he always is. That may have been down to the manager I don't know, but with things like Bellamy being arrested for fighting, and Chopra publicly drinking and gambling, well players have to take a good hard look at themselves. There's other stuff as well regarding drug taking by certain players that I have heard on very good authority, that may also have affected a certain players performance. I'm sure all this stuff goes on at every club, so I'm not sure how serious it should be taken, but what I do know is, if we had scraped up throught the play-offs, I would not have offered any of those players contracts in the Premier, apart from Bellamy and McNaughton.

I can't say I'm in shock as I haven't had any faith in Dave Jones since the 6-0 debacle at Preston over 2 years ago.

Taffy, to be honest, Bothroyd would have got in the QPR side ahead of Helguson and Bellamy ahead of Tommy Smith. Chopra would not have got near the QPR side, ahead of Taraabt and Whittingham would not been ahead of Routledge. McNaughton is a better left back than Hill, yes but Keinan would not have replaced either Gorrks or Connolly in the centre of defence. Burke, like him and he may have had a chance, but Olifinjana ahead of Shaun Derry. Not a chance. Derry was the biggest and best surprise last season for us. He should have got in the Championship team of the year.

Bellamy definitely is, Bothroyd and McNaughton (at a push) are premiership standard players. The rest are nowhere near. Especially on last seasons form.

A well written post Chief. But only Bellamy is Premiership Class the others are not IMO. Chopra even at his best was suspect in the Prem the rest are just not good enough. We also have to get over the fear of replacing Dave Jones which has to be done, as his position is untenable. But one thing for sure when Dave Jones took over we had a squad worth 30 million Dave Jones at the end of this season has left us with a squad worth diddly squat .

The problem IMO was pre season when Jones brought in Koumas who was unfit, Drinkwater who was not the type of midfielder needed to run the game ie replace Mcphail, Keogh who was not a goalscorer to replace Bothroyd, and Naylor who was totally incompetent as left back. He needed to bring in fit, and experienced players of infinitely better quality than he did.

I accept the injuries to the keepers was unfortunate beyond belief but it was inexcusable to fall into the same trap he did 2 years ago by bringing in a loan keeper plainly not up to the job.

There were stellar players but the gaps in the team were not filled adequately. If the stellar players clicked we won games with ease, but when they didn't, well we know what occurred- the deficiencies in the middle of the park, the central defence, at full back and goalkeeper cost us point after point.

The reason IMO we lost to Reading was because Jones did not AGAIN have sufficient quality on the bench to cover for 4 major injuries running down the spine of the team- Heaton, Hudson, Mcphail & Bellamy.

This was the season to get out of this league, Jones failed to bring in a strong enough squad to compliment AND supplement several talented individuals

Good players on paper most of them..........obviously when it comes to the crunch many of them went missing.

An old manager Harry Storer once said " when you play away, count the number of hearts in the team,if your lucky you will have 6....any less than 5.......turn the bus around"........That summed us up in many games this year.

Its called playing as a TEAM yes TEAM unlike us they was TEAM we was not we had 11 ppl playing by them selfs that was the diffrence you can have 11 worldwide star players in a team or 9 donkeys and 2 class players your only as good as the people around you if your playing as a team then thats the diffrence something we hardly done at all this year bar leeds away and few other games,where as QPR done it all season bar a few results but look at there results without tantrum boy playing u can see therers a diffrence in results without him,Its called team building around one man and once again we never done that this year,not rocket science just common sence something DJ lacked as well as many other areas which we are all aware of and thats why there in the prem and we will probs be playing in bottom four next season for most of it by the looks on things at the moment
