Gavin Rae - Frustration This Season!!

Would anyone agree with Gavin Rae's comments, with regards to him making a difference in games this season!?

I personally think he could have been used more throughout the season than he was! especially away from home as a defensive midfielder!?

Any comments?

To be honest i don't think he would have made a great deal of difference to our season

I think hes spot on. I think he gets a bad press from a lot of idiots in our crowd who slate him for what he doesnt do instead of praising him for what he does. He will run all afternoon in that midfield, he doesnt make killer passes but he does close down opponents. Olinfinjana marks zones as he is used to, sometimes he would be marking no one at all. Rae on the other hand would close his man down. There have been games that have cried out for Rae to be brought on, especially instead of playing Whittingham in the middle.

And do you know what? He also scored a few goals for us. Not a great player, no, but a good servant to the club. A lot of far, far worse players than him have had far less stick. People forget that no matter the stick he got, no matter the crap he took from Jones he always tried his best.

He couldn't have done any worse, some games were crying out for a midfield change with a difference, but it was the same changes nearly every game.

If I wasn't more concerned about Jones still at my club I would be cracking out the champers to celebrate the exit of the jogging jock. What a woeful, woeful player.....About the only thing Jonesy did get right this season not picking him.
BUT he still signed the parks player in the first place!!!

He could have come in a few games when winning away just to close things down but his impact would have been minimal.

Best way to describe Rae is a box to box player who isn't very good in either box.

He will work hard and will close down but rarely covers the defence well enough or actually get a tackle in. As for attacking wise, well he tried.

Nice guy, good servant and a good signing from DJ by his time has gone now.

Nice bloke but he passed it 2 seasons ago. He tried to close down opponents but was always yards off the pace and gave possession away far too much. Thanks for the service Gav but your shelf life expired years ago.

he should have come off the bench more definetly,he played the full 90 minutes against stoke at the britannia and righfully was awarded man of the match for his efforts

I think his point is that he was never going to be our answer to Messi or ronaldo, but to give some of our players a break it would have been a good idea to draft him in. Towards the end of the season, he wouldn't have been any worse than Olofinjana

What a waste of time. He is a midfielder who will only shoot if he is a yard out. don't know what he could've offered this season, but i'm guessing F all.

Working hard simply isn't enough. His height gave us goals and added so much defensively. When he was good he was brilliant, when he was bad he was very poor.
I'd have him back though.
Rae's pride an work ethic simply isn't enough. Also my worry about everyone saying leave two players who will work hard is what we need - it won't be enough.
