We beat Scotland 4-0 under Toshack. Tonight we lost 3-1 and finally scored our first goal under Gary Speed. Whatever everyone thought of Toshack, we played good football under him and he at least gave us some structure which is sorely lacking now. I was in the minority not wanting Toshack to go, simply because I didn't think we could get anyone better in and I agreed with his playing style. I know Wales had a weakend team tonight, but so did Scotland. Cardiff City will always be my priority, but internationally I worry we are going backwards even further.
Gary Speed is a likeable guy and will probably be a good coach, but he doesn't have the track record of a good manager after failing with Sheffield United and so far, he is drastically failing with Wales and is showing no signs of turning things around. I will give him chance to show what he can do with a full squad of players, but at the moment I wonder if Wales will ever win another game while Speed remains in charge?

You surely can't use tonights result against a full strength Scotland team with out fringe players and compare it to the 4-0 match. Looking at the teams before the match I was expecting at the very least 3-0 to Scotland and looking at the final result, 3-1 wasn't that bad comparing the strength of the players.
Now, if we can't beat Norn Ireland with a strong team out, then you may have a point.

The good football probably came from Brian Flynn.

At best, I'm ambivalent about the whole thing.

TOSHACK OUT

Speed put out a second string side. Easter and Tudor Jones started ffs. If you think last night was a taster for things to come, then you're wrong.
When we play a meaningful game with our top players are fit, we'll do much better

these 2 players were abysmall and should never play for Wales , Earnie was ok for 45 mins but then went back to his old ways and the defence was shocking ........ Gunter and Matthews were awfull to say the least !

mark hughes was manager when we beat scotland 4-0, not toshack. first half we played well, but if we play ramsey, bellamy etc on friday and lose, then i'll be worried.

You are joking, right? Under Toshack, we played awful football. We laboured to 3-0 wins at home to the likes of San Marino. For me, Toshack couldn't go soon enough.
Not sure about Speed though but willing to give him time. Remember, under Mark Hughes we had the worst record of any Welsh team, he got it right for a while then we reverted to type under him. So far, Gary Speed has matched the start of the Hughes era and it's our worst run of results since 1974

He's a canton boy mate who just happened to manage swansea town
I couldn't give a monkeys who is in charge of Wales as i have no interest in international football

we could lose the next 10 games and i'll still be happy Toshack's gone. What an awful awful football manager.
I physically cant see this 'good football under toshack idea.' you must be thinking of something else surely. Under toshack we play one up front at home to azerbaijan and get a scrappy 1-0 win in the 87th minute, cracking football that

don't think you can really judge wales because of the performance against scotland....we had a crap team out whereas their team was pretty strong.
wales do have a lot of potential and if we have a full team out, i think wales can turn over some higher ranked teams. we shouldn't be ranked where we are, ok results wise yes but with the squad we have, we should be higher.

I didn't want Toshack out either, it's probably the same people who want him out that want Dave Jones out. Toshack had a better win rate than Mark Hughes. We were top of the group with Hughes after a great win against Italy, but that was it, we only won 4 games in total, azerbaijan twice and then Finland. I dont mean this in an offensive way, but some of u football fans just really dont it get it, u assume your team HAS to have success. We were so organised under Toshack, went to Germany and got a 0-0 and in the other game over there we lost 1-0 to a wonder strike. We lost 2-1 away to Czech Republic because they scored from an offside and took a free kick with a rolling ball for the other, the tactics were spot on but Bellamy couldnt finish his chances that night. We lost 2-1 away at Russia, England did worse, again only cos Bale missed a pen. Yes we lost these games away u may say, but it just shows he knew was he was doing and Wales NEVER get any luck. Toshack was superb in charge, the sooner u lot realise that u cant have instant success the sooner it will actually come.
RELATIVE SUCCESS BREEDS GREED!!

Toshack wasn't as bad as people say. We played some of our best away performances of recent times under Toshack. The away results against the likes of Germany and Slovenia (or was it Slovakia???

). I always felt comfortable with Toshack in charge of us away from home. It was just at home that he didn't have a clue.
I'm willing to give Speed all the time in the world though because that's what we have. We're going nowhere fast so we might as well eradicate expectations for the next 10 years and just let Speed do what he can. I like the football Speed is trying to get us to play but so far we just lack the players.
The only criticism I have is the selection of Steve Morison... that guy just does not give a f**k and is a disgrace to our colours.
