Jason Fowler

Tue May 24, 2011 7:58 pm

I don't really know why but I absolutely loved him for the City, probably the laziest git on the pitch but he had talent, anyone remember the night game against Halifax on a Friday I believe and he hit the bar from outside the box in a nil nil draw.

What are your opinions of him ?

Absolute class player for us mate.

But I always wonder whether they were that good, or whether everyone else in the lower leagues were that bad...

He had fantastic control and skill, at the time I'd not seen a player with that much technical ability playing for us.

Sublime talent, from memory the "lazy" tag was well, a lazy label - suffered from a thyroid problem, didn't he?

he was.

best moment was when taking a corner, whiffed, kicked the flag, just touching the ball.

And the game stopped for a few seconds as no-one knew what to do...

You didn't read the title did you

Jason Fowler

Talented but as said above, lazy. Remember him being used as a sweeper as well - an experiment that did not work

But THAT chip against Brentford remains one of my all-time favourite City goals.

We played Brentford at home we won 3-1 when we were Brentford and us were playing for promotion it was around Easter time he was magnificent, we then played I think it was Mansfield away, and he went AWOL.

I thought, I heard that he has been diagnosed with some illness or other, please excuse if I am wrong

He was good player but in the fourth division
Hope the club are not looking at promoting him?

Re: Jason Fowler

Remember Schwinkendorf running the length of the pitch and unleashing a rocket from outside the box that cannoned off the post?

I remember being stood behind the goal on the grange end, don't think it had a roof back then and I think we ended up drawing the game against whoever we were playing.

He never played much for us after that but at the time it was one of the most impressive things I'd ever seen at Ninian Park!

Played in a charity game with him last month! Lovely bloke, good laugh and he was still pinging the ball all over the place! Loved his chip v Northampton! Awesome

You got it right Carl he was a lazy git, a bit like Bothroyd and to some extent Whittingham.

Casualy waltzing around the pitch but you just new he had a moment of magic in the locker.

I'll tell you one who I liked at the time, Wayne O'Sullivan.

He was a Lower League Chris Burke.. :ayatollah:

Re: Jason Fowler

scored a great chip from outside the box in the rain, mansfield or torquay i think, not sure of the year think it was 4-1. that was my first city home game :ayatollah: Jason Bowen was my fave at the time

Remember him " slipping in the showers at half time " - well according to Burrows and going to hospital in an ambulance.

Though translated = a f*cking big right hook from Kevin Nugent !!

Loved him great talent when he wanted to play

Re: Jason Fowler

I remember the echo headline....CITY SIGN FOWLER.....(Jason not Robbie)

The bloke was absolute class in the dungeon yes he was lazy at times, the goal against Brentford was sublime but so was his finish against the jacks in a 1-1 draw at the retch..he started and finished the move. It was a shame that illness & injury finished him at City

That was the day we were all giving Warren Aspinall the full 'You Fat b*stard' treatment. Fair play, he took it well and applauded the Bob Bank, after showing us his gut

yeah totally agree with that, cant remember that game of the top of my head though

Jason Bowen was a personal favourite of mine

and Steve White who i think was a bit of a supersub if anyone remembers him :D

Jon Hallworth though is one of my favourite City players ever cos being a keeper myself, i grew not idolising him as such but just wishing him, playing in goals for Cardiff haha
