I loved Frankie Burows first time around

Any manager who gained promotion or won a trophy without having incredibly large sums spent ( mostly on wages ).

I wouldn't say he is amazing but my fav manager.

I would bet my life that our wage bill for that division was way bigger compared to rivals that year. He also spent big money on transfer fees. He had anyone he wanted from a league above us. IMO he was a very poor manager and we went up despite him. I do agree tho annis a very nice man.

Plenty of players in this division on that type of money tho. When we were in league one (or
Div 2 I think at the time) Peter Thornes per goal bonus was way higher than the average wage for that division and thats without his wage. Totally different scenarios IMO. And besides DJ always had to sell to fund his wages where as Lennie kept spending, spending, spending and adding adding adding to the wage bill.

I think Luke it was approx £3 Mill under Lennie, maybe less.

"we didn't set the world alight in the scoular era"!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!! You might want to look into that!! On a much smaller budget than Jones, and with some local boys in the team, we reached the semi finals of the European Cup Winners Cup, beat Real Madrid at Ninian Park, and finished 3rd in the equivalent of the championship despite our star player being sold mid season under his feet!

I still think that the best football I've ever seen us play was the start of Jones's first full season in charge when we had just signed the likes of Kevin McNaughton, Kerrea Gilbert etc. However, every manager has a shelf life. He's done well, but it doesn't mean he is the man for the future.

I think Jimmy Scoular was a really good manager, I would say,he did light the fire that would have set Cardiff City on fire, But some dick head sold Tosh when we were fighting for the top spot, by the time Allan Warboys come in ,it was too late and we lost out. Scoular was a hard manager and wouldnt stand on fking about, I would say he was one of the best ,and if Tosh wasnt sold out from under him we may well have gone up. Also lets put the record right here, alot of people on here think Warboys was not much good, Well he was good , very good I seen him play loads of times. There must be a record of his time with Cardiff and Im sure you will fined he was very good.

AS for DJ let his record speak for itself .
