Today sums up the money grabbing Prem League

Sat May 14, 2011 3:00 pm

OK so the Prem league hasn't finished before the FA Cup final but

With this stage of the season being so vital, WHY AREN'T ALL THE PREM GAMES BEING PLAYED TOMORROW AT THE SAME TIME.

NO EXCUSE money grabbers

Last game of the season is played at the same time.

As it is in the Football League.

So I can only assume the Football League are also money grabbing too? Or is it just a case of complete consistency?

The last games are next week but there is no reason OTHER THAN MONEY why any Prem League games were played today.

With the relegation positions so close, they should all be playing at the same time.

Wrong on the first part.

UEFA demanded a clear 2 week gap before the CL final.

Next season, there's a clear 4 week gap to the Euro Championships...

On the second part, it's silly - how do you determine precisely when games suddenly become vital ( as if all aren't vital ).

The games played tomorrow are :-

Chelsea v Newcastle United 13:30
Arsenal v Aston Villa 16:00
Birmingham City v Fulham 16:00
Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur 16:00
Wigan Athletic v West Ham United

The only teams realistically in the relegation mire are Wigan and West Ham - well, they have to win any damn way - Villa you'd think should be more or less safe, Birmingham possibly safe. Those who played today - Blackburn, Blackpool, Wolves all gained points...

So there's hardly been any advantage / disadvantage by the games being played today / tomorrow.

You've misunderstood what I meant with regard to final 2 games of any division. I know the league cannot guess what games "matter", but it's quite simple. PLAY THE LAST 2 GAMES IN EACH LEAGUE AT THE SAME TIME.

It's too close to the end to have teams playing at different times.

But again, 2 games is an arbitrary limit you've introduced. Why not 3, 4, 5?

Final week of games works ok, so there's no overwhelming need to change tbh.

I still think that the final 2 games at the same time is a fairer way to deal with the leagues.

There's no reason why they still can't show the games on tv as true fans will still go to the games.

Depends what time the games are scheduled - Prem league, next to last game usually in a Saturday, so it's either early or late start for everyone, as 3pm games can't be televised.
