PLAYER RATINGS!

Fri May 13, 2011 9:08 pm

Before the game I would have happily taken a 0.0 so im not too disapointed but I have to say we were lucky Reading were garbage as I thought we were well below par tonight! Still everything to play for and you have to think we have the upper hand now, but with Cardiff City anything could happen! Ive listed my player ratings below, see if you agree or disagree!

Bywater - 6/10 - didnt have to do much but flapped at a few crosses and didnt really command his area.

Quinn - 7/10 - another solid performance, worked hard, was rarely beaten and gave his all.

Keinan - 7/10 - did well to shackle Long and competed well.

McNaughton - 8/10 - recovered magnificently from the Boro debacle and his last gasp tackle in the first half was class!

Blake - 5/10 - Always gives his best but his distribution was abysmal and was a weak link down our left hand side, although didnt get much help to be fair to him.

JET - 4/10 - Atrocious performance, didnt track back and offered nothing going forward. Miscontrolled the ball numerous times and his heading made Etuhu look like Nat Lofthouse.

Whittingham - 6/10 - worked hard but struggled to impose himself on the game. Played some nice passes but didnt dominate.

Oli - 5/10 - Wasnt at the races tonight. Repeatedly gave the ball away and didnt seem to have any drive.

Burke - 6/10 - Another who wasnt at the races going forward but he worked tirelessly tracking back. Even when he has a poor game he still covers his full back well.

Bothroyd - 6/10 - Not up to his usual high standard tonight. Battled hard but didnt hold the ball up and offered little threat.

Bellamy - 7/10 - Started the game brightly and if he had stayed on he looked as if he was the only player capable of opening Reading up, huge blow if he misses Tuesday night.

Chopra - 6/10 - To be fair he had very little service and as a result hardly touched the ball. He did do a lot of running tracking back but wasnt a threat tonight.

Naylor - 7/10 - Actually did ok when he came on. Won an important header in the box and didnt let anyone down.

Dave Jones - 7/10 - a 0.0 draw away from home in the play offs cant be sniffed at. However, I personally feel he left his changes too late and the shape of the team was poor at times. His interview on Sky after the game was also dreadful, was there any need to again have a pop at the local press? Focus on the game Dave!

Nothing wrong with DJ interview after the game, the interviewer brought up the subject of criticism DJ just basically agreed, as did all the people in the studio, including neil warnock who many on here seem to fancy!

I thought Blake did a lot better than 5. His fitness buggered him a bit at the end but he looked solid and confident for the majority. I felt he was worth a 7, at least a 6. The whole defensive unit was superb tonight.

Sorry but his passing could of easily cost us several goals. For that reason a 3 would of been fair Sheriff.

Who was he meant to pass to??? JET offered absolutely nothing in terms of support or outlet assistance and Whitts was often dilly dallying around like the fairy he is. He had no other option but to hoof clear the most time. I'm not saying he didn't make one or two stray balls but considering how under pressure and how little support he had all game I think he did well under the circumstances. :ayatollah:

Bywater - 6
Quinn - 7
McNaughton - 9
Keinan - 9
Blake - 6
JET - 5
Olofinjana - 5
Whittingham - 5
Burke - 5
Bothroyd - 6
Chopra - 6

Keeper had nothing to do, Quinn and Blake were solid defensively but distribution was poor. Centre backs were outstanding, winning challenge after challenge. Midfield was non existent, Bothroyd and Chopra tried but had no service.

Haha speaking about giving balls away, I found it funny when Oli would win possession, keep the ball for 10 mins then give it straight back to Reading... vintage Oli!
