The play offs are fundamentally unfair...

and should be scrapped.

It is purely a money making scheme. It's a disgrace that mediocre teams can get on a run and gain promotion over teams that finish with better points tallies over 46 games.

If we were not in with a chance of gaining automatic promotion the last few games - Do you think we would have had 2 sell out crowds the last few games?
A lot of teams crowds drop when they know they can get automatic promotion, the play offs ensure there is something to play for. 8-) 8-)

We was having this discussion in work today with some saying it is unfair. But my view is if you want defo promotion then you have to finish top 2 . Then you know the next four battle it out, if it wasn't for the Playoffs then the season would be boring with a third left. And it also gives smaller teams and there fans a chance to play at Wembley. I love the playoffs and watching the other games as well, yes it can be unfair but hey ill take it :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Could be worse. Could be a system where they play off with the bottom premiership teams.

No system is entirely "fair." Whatever that means.

As long as you know the rules at the start of the tournament / competition, then it is fair.

Very unfair when you finish 3rd. Very fair when you finish 6th. Ask Forest and Blackpool fans from last season.

By the way, very exciting too in my opinion. And lucrative for all parties concerned.

Had this system 20 years ago. 3rd from bottom (18th) in the premiership played over 2 legs with the 3rd placed Championship team (Was Division 1 and 2 then I believe.) I was at Chelsea when Middlesboro from Div 2 demoted them at the Bridge. Was hilarious.
