Its This truly Ethical

one law firm is reperesenting both sides ????

QPR and the FA are both reperesented by Blackstone Chambers

two mates working on opposite sides of the fence, if one of them should be a QpR fan whats he going to be saying to his mate ??

then there is this bit

But although the choice of QCs is not a surprise, it is causing comment in legal circles that Blackstone should be so heavily involved when former QPR director Nick De Marco is one of their junior barristers, working alongside Mill

I think this is bullshit, but I asked my mate who's a qualified solicitor, apparently it's perfectly normal if they are barristers as they are self employed and just work in offices in chambers where they have a clerk that gives them work. Apparently it's not unusual for barristers from the same company to be opposing each other as they are working for themselves and not on behalf of the company.

If they were solicitors then that would be different as they are working for the same firm, and the firm gets the money.

They are not a law firm, but from a barristers chambers. Technically, barristers are all self-employed and merely affiliate within a chambers to share costs, facilities, administration and marketing. If they were solicitors, the argument would be different.

Correct.

As this is Professional Conduct Tribunal (not an actual court of criminal or civil law) both sides usually pay their own legal costs no matter what the outcome is.

As per Griffy comments above - this is actually quite normal.

Barristers are Self Employed so, even though they are from the same Chambers, they will want to "do one" over their compatriate.

I had a case a couple of weeks ago in which I had a similar situation. I had a hearing in Birmingham and appointed a Barrister from a Warrington Chambers. Unbeknown to me the Defendant Solicitor also thought this Chambers was quite good and had appointed someone else from them!

My Barrister won - of Course!!!

Correct although one does wonder what the personal dynamics might be between two barristers who share the same offices and practice in the same field - for example, if one had ever been the pupil to the other or if they collaborate on cases from time to time. I understand that there are two other barristers involved although the FA is protecting their names, theirs and that of the appointed football professional.

Ian mIll & Nick De Marco are both on the same side. Representing QPR.

Ian Mill is one of the owners of Chambers & one of the very very best in sports law.

I expect nothing but a victory for Mr Mill
