When I played football I couldnt drink for 48 hrs before a match or I would notice a huge effect on performance.
I managed to stay in and not drink and it wasnt even my full time job.

I've ran 18 marathons myself & although i'm nowhere near your standard have always been disciplined in the run up to a event & i'm only doing it for my personal pleasure, these guys are paid thousands! Can't they wait until the end of the season?

Something that has interested me about this story is could the club put some sort testing regime in place to spot the signs of this problem. I'm not talking about any sort of breath test I mean some other test like is the player dehydrated if yes why?
My understanding and I admit it is less than limited is that even a small amount of alcohol can remain in the body for 3 days and can affect hydration levels which in turn can affect energy and alertness. It's probably bullshit but I think I read it somewhere but hopefully your experience could help me understand more about the impact.
I think the article I read was on sports science and how believe it or not Sam Allerdyce was using different methods to monitor players fitness energy levels etc. Can it be tested in this modern age and if the answer is yes do you think it would be beneficial at the club.
Hope you don't mind me asking.![]()
