get realistic carl

Tue May 03, 2011 8:00 pm

this team and the manager have no passion with the exception of craig bellamy.
to them its just another game and the real passion is going out on the piss.
its no coincidence that the bigger the game the more we cock it up and it happens time after time.
we deserve better and its time the supporters start to demand it.

Swansea away 1-0, Leicester Play offs, Bristol City 3-2 at home, Swansea last season 2-1, Preston 1-0, I could go on but I am making a not so subtle point that in just those games there point to passion and Bellamy did not feature in or was even at the club for a couple.

Nerd I could sit here like a nerd :D and go through results of importance or passion as it may be called over the last six seasons like Brum and Wolves at home but I really do not wish too.

I am just making a point that considering DJ team has not passion it magically appeared for some games, so the op says there is no passion, you say it is isolated next it will be we are full of it :D

Boro x 2, Ipswich x 2, Palace x 1 and a half. Not to mention individul games such as watford, bristol shitty.

No point winning 'big' matches, then slipping up on the bread and butter games. Need to show passion in every match, not matter what personel are on the field.

Because he shows no passion on the touchline doesnt mean he doesnt have passion. Think we have too many big ego's in the team after seeing the Boro game. No passion by the players!!! It was plain to see. Jones cant be blamed for everything. Think he needs praising for the great run of wins we have had recently. :ayatollah:

Have QPR?

Have those other teams the talent we have?

The fact remains, there's absolutely zero consistency in our squad. QPR can grind results out. Norwich never say die. We have an immensely talented squad playing like individuals, not a team.

Re: get realistic carl

Nerd has pretty much made the reply I would have. The question has to be asked why the manager, or the players, have struggled so much to get out of slumps - and how they capitulate so much to fall so deeply into them in the first place. Others bounce back almost immediately - QPR being the most obvious example.

Re: get realistic carl

Tue May 03, 2011 8:22 pm

Sorry Carl, but I have to agree with Darboy and Nerd. We all new how this was going to end with DJ at the helm (in the lottery of the play offs) and the way the team are performing on and off the field I do not fancy our chances. Yesterday we played like the team that had nothing to play for and it was embarrasing.

We should have got rid of DJ when we had reason to at Christmas, yes we may have been on an unbeaten run but those draws and wins were by the skin of our teeth. OK Norwich have been one of the luckiest teams I have seen in years but you make your own luck, like they have by playing for one another unlike our bunch who seem to rather go on the lash most of the time.

I have a question for you Carl, with arguably the biggest game in the clubs history yesterday why didn't DJ book the whole team into the vale hotel and have a curfew?

I fear for the club if we fail in the play offs as a big rebuilding job will be required.

Carl, it's also fair to say a large chunk of people blame the players when it's going wrong, but give all credit to the manager when it's going right...

Maybe he did and maybe other officials at the club had to go into the dressing room to calm it all down after being called by one of the medical staff, I don't know but perhaps this happened yesterday.

If that has been the case then I certainly have not noticed that and that is not my Arsene Wenger excuse either but lets be honest the DJ haters are very vocal and take every opportunity whether warranted or not to have another pop

Bullshit Carl you know as well as I do that is all about being professionals and getting the team focused on the job in hand as you have quoted in other posts (Man Utd and Chelsea have(Man Utd and Chelsea also get the team together in hotels on evenings prior to big games..Fact!), they are obviously not acting like pro's when they go on the piss the night before a huge game.

Hang on a minute you have spun the words to suit your argument!

Firstly you asked a direct question - Carl, with arguably the biggest game in the clubs history yesterday why didn't DJ book the whole team into the vale hotel and have a curfew?

To which I answered with - They are professional players and adults at that too, do you want him to tuck them in and read them bedtime stories too ?

But now you are turning it by saying - they are obviously not acting like pro's when they go on the piss the night before a huge game.

So who are you blaming the manager or the players ?

Because I have not read one post during his six years of Dave Jones getting pissed up on the eve of a game or any other time for that matter.

Carl its that final hurdle we cant jump. We beat Barsley FA Cup semi Final. The Final was there for the taking and it was bottled. Last season at the Ninian!! one point from what was it six matches needed none taken. The Play off final out fought out thought, BOTTLED!!. Then the Boro maybe 2 or 3 players having an off game !! But all of them :o  now that isn't possible that comes down to the manager and Motivation. And if the stories are true of Players on the piss again !! then that is unforgivable and heads have to roll and that means players as well as management. If Chops is guilty again then he needs to be severely disciplined. But that is my opinion of it

Re: get realistic carl

First of all Carl I am not having a pop at you and if it sounds like I apologise, and to answer your question they are both to blame 1) the players for not acting in manner that our club demands and 2) if the players are going on the lash then the management team have failed to get them focussed, Therefore they also have to take the blame and it shows to me that these players do not give a damn about our club, if they did they would sacrifice their nights out until the season is over just like us supporters sacrifice a lot of hard earned cash to follow them through thick and thin.

I know your not having a pop and I am glad you recognise it is a two way thing, players and staff.

Back to the point and original question, think of it like this. We have played 23 home league matches this season, do you feel the club should have players in a hotel on the eve of every one of the 23 home matches ?

I do, but I don't think that our budget allows for it.

And I expect someone to say but this was the biggest game of the season !

But if we had won the home games we have lost so far this season then Middlesbrough would have been a simple exercise.
