motivation, i think i could name 2-3 players at most who are SELF motivated. the rest rely on DJ and i don't think that happens very often. absolutely gutted today, really am.

Well you only had to watch there game vs pompy to see the diffrence in them to us today they chased every f*cking ball, won all the headers and long balls what did we do let the ball drop to two 5ft 1inch boro strikers for 30mins and look what happend,no closing down nothing but its what players are told to do i guess instructions from the side lines sometimes i think dj does sign language as he dont move very much unlike lambert screaming from the touchline its even baffles me what sort of system or formation we play some game like today was all over the shop :? :ayatollah:
BOTTOM LINE IS THEY WANTED IT WE NEVER AND THATS IT

IT wouldn't've mattered who our manager was today our players were shit. I am not a fan of DJ but don't blame him for today, if you honestly need someone to fire you up for a match that might get you promoted to the prem then you are a dick and need to have a serious word with yourself

At half time Jonsey should of given them a proper fergie hairdryer treatment! Instead he probably said keep doing the same because there was no change in performance at all.

I agree, sad thing is we should never have been in this position and that unfortunately is down to DJ.

Can't see how giving the manager a hard time will help us at this point.
Calling out the fans who like DJ is rubbing salt in wounds. Give your own fellow fans a break!
That has to come ONLY IF the team fails to get promotion.

To be fair the players came out fighting in the 2nd half. If Kev had scored that tap in from a yard out a minute into the 2nd half that wouldve made hell of a difference. Also if bothroyd actually shot instead of taking an eternity to get the ball down on a couple of occasions, that wouldve helped.

The team looked liked they had been rallied at half-time but we just couldnt get that goal to kick us on. Weel be ok :ayatollah:

but isn't it the managers job to motivate the players?

today a team of gutless lazy bastards came out, and during the lap did DJ show his face?
its his team so isn't he supposed to be with them all the way. it seemed like our team didn't have a manager today. and it seemed like our race for promotion somehow turned into sure-thing relegation coz thats the way they were acting. we had no fighting spirit,it was like we had already lost from the first whistle.

Ive said it all along, we aren't going to be a premiership team with just a championship manager. and DJ will be nothing more than that..

Donkey,
Ask yourself what motivates you at work.
Interest in doing a good job? your salary? a hairdrying from your boss?

I think it's knowing that you've done the very best you can - in whatever you're doing.

Our players didn't do that today, and there's nothing our manager can do to have a direct influence on that most important of factors.

As for "where and the pro-Jones lot"?

I'm here, but I feel like I'm gonna be sick. I'm not surprised though because this is a Boro side who everyone said were going to top the league this season.

Short memories aye?

Aye and what did M'Boro do about it, sack their manager. A bit too late for them for promotion but did the right thing as it prevented them going down.

We were favourites after we made the signing but just look at November and December. We should have got rid of DJ then, history was repeating itself and who will bet against it not doing it again?

If we fail to go up I hope Jones does the same as Strachan and rips hus contract up.

Dave,

How about the previous 5 Seasons, I am sure we had different players when we got hammered by Ipswich 3 nil at home and 6 nil at Preston, THE BLAME LIES WITH THE MANAGER and THATS DJ, HE CANT TAKE A TEAM UP AUTOMATICALLY, HE BOTTLES IT and THAT RUNS THROUGH IN TO HIS TEAMS.

I'm not a massive Jones fan but I have to say yesterday's result and performance the players need to take responsibility. It wasn't good enough. Samuel, Keinan, Quinn and Heaton must take blame for the goals. Nothing Jones could have done about that. It wasn't about motivation yesterday it was the players who let themselves done with a lack of mental preparation on a personal level. The attack were a bit better but didn't score so also have to look at their own performance.

Blaming Jones for yesterday is making him a bit of a scape goat to be honest.

Zabier, But Ask your self who brought those players in and chose them for the 6th year running ?

Its not just about yesterday, the league table does not lie, for the 6th year running we have now missed out on Automatic promotion.

Yeah, Annis, I was one of the ones after the Bristol City match calling for his head. However, we were in the position yesterday when we could have taken it down to the last day but the players let us down. Jones got the tactical side right and sometimes you have to take the blame away from the manager. If we don't go up I would like us to replace Jones but I feel people are using their dislike of Jones as a method of coping with the shambles of yesterday when in reality it was the players who cost us.

I agree, they were a Shambles, but the buck lies with the manager. I also would like a virtually total clear out of the Squad, Most of DJ's players are Spineless like him.

Re: " THE KEY TO PROMOTION "

Tue May 03, 2011 6:39 am

For God sake this is the third consectitive season DJ has bottled the league (and you can add the 2008 FA Cup final), so why the hell are people still making excuses for him?

Frankly the evidence is damming and while he is our manager we will continue to tread water.

It's about time his appologists grew a bloody back bone and helped the rest of us get rid of the horrible scouse git along with his bloody useless bitch players.

Re: " THE KEY TO PROMOTION "

What is it they say about owners and their pets Annis? They are alike!

I would only bother keeping Burke, McNaughton, Quinn and Blake. The rest I don't really care about. Maybe Heaton but to be honest I have said all season we could do better.

Part of me hopes we stay down so we can build from the beginning. I can only see one thing happening next season if we do go up with this lot... relegation!

Zabier I like your opinions but on this one you have got it completely wrong. Yesterday was our 12th defeat of the season, so the excuse that 'it was one of those days' is completely off the mark because there have been 11 others.

A top team looking for automatic promotion doesn't lose 12 games 'unluckily' or 'because of the players' during a season. Sorry but with the squad we have at our disposal the buck has to stop with Jones and Jones alone.

Tony, over the whole season I agree. However, in the particular instance of yesterday, I don't think the players can shirk the responsibility at all. Jones did what was needed on his behalf and for the first time in as long as I can remember the players came out with a rocket up their arse in the second half.

I just feel yesterday the players need to take the blame just as Jones needs to for the majority of losses this season.

Zabier nobody believes the players should shirk responsiblity for yesterday and I hope they get the bollocking of their lives from someone.

However, if yesterday's performance was a 'one off' then I believe your point would be more valid but yesterday was the 12th defeat of the season so the excuse it is 'down to the players' is diluted to the point of being totally worthless.

Basically it is wrong to seek to isolate yesterday's result from the other 11 defeats (just think Bristol C, Ipswich, Watford the double by Nottingham F & Middlesbrough) so DJ's expansive list of excuses IMO is now showing signs of what they truly are, a load of f**king bullshit from a useless worthless manager.

Re: " THE KEY TO PROMOTION "

I see where you're coming from Tony and, in the large part, I agree. I just don't think there was anything Jones could have done to have changed the result yesterday. :(
