Looks a full house for sure, not sure of the date unfortunately but thought it deserved a scan as just makes you realise potentially the fanbase we have, I mean there was 26,000 there last week and theres no doubt if the ground held 35,000 and we got to the prem we'd sell out onwards and upwards

Looking at the photo, i believe it to be the game v Arsenal, played on Wednesday, 22 April, 1953, crowd of 57893, a record set for a Ninian Park attendance for Cardiff City. The game ended 0-0.

Probably close to 60,000. the official attendance may have been less but this was in the day of virtually all pay on the day & there used to be a fair bit of fiddling. If we go up i don't think we'll get a regular 36000, the play off final made me realise we have'nt got that big a fan base, 40.000 may have turned up but a third seemed like they could'nt care less & anyone who wanted a ticket seemed to have one.They'll turn up when we're challenging (like they did on saturday) but will they when we struggle? i doubt it.

Its always been the same at City, for example, when we played the double winning Spurs at home, March 11, 1961 we had a crowd of 45463. We played Blackpool next at home on March 24, & had a crowd of 19754, a week later we played Birmingham City at Ninian park & a paltry 16339 turned up. Our last home game of the 1960/61 season, in the old first division, against West Ham, on the 22 April, drew a massive crowd of,,,,,,9549. Work that one out!
