SAM HAMMAM THE CCFC FAN

Sun Apr 24, 2011 9:34 am

At 7am this morning ( Cheers Sam ) I had a text off Sam. He closely follows our fortunes and as you know he is regularly in touch, even during each game throughout the season he texts or I send him updates on the game. He really is a fan like the rest of us.

Sam's text :

It does not look good ON PAPER. Swansea are out of it.
We play the team average position 16 (23+17+8 divide by 3). Norwich play 16.33 & Reading play 19.66.
Both of them are twice @ home & ALL their games are against teams who have nothing to gain by winning.
We are twice away with PNE & Burnley fighting big time. Conclusion: exactly what you said , " we must win our last 3 games". Also teams with nothing to gain or lose start playing kids for the future & may rest those they are not keeping. On the other hand teams playing with no pressure tend to play with panache & sometimes therefore play better.
f**k all statistics- come on Preston "WE ARE READY".
32 hrs & counting.

This sums it up for me, we can all debate and throw up stats for and against and reasons why it will or why it won't happen but as he says at the end, we don't need stats - we need to be ready !

I don't buy into this Norwich have easier games because the teams they are playing have nothing to play for. They can be the most dangerous teams because the pressure is off them and they can relax. Look at Coventry and Hull since they felt their hopes of achieving anything disappeared. Until yesterday, Hull were unbeaten in 17 games! Coventry are heading that way under Andy Thorn.

I still think if we win all three games, we will go up automatically. I can see Norwich drawing one game. Swansea are out of it for sure and so are Reading now.

I agree Zabier and that is what Sam says in his text too. We will go up automatically IF we win our 3 remaining games I am confident of that.

well if QPR dont get no point deduction we could be in the courts again

I thought the team played really well yesterday and if we had been playing any other team in the League we would have brushed them aside. These last 6 games we have been playing with an increasing intensity and we are getting better and as a result I really think even if it's the playoffs we will see off any team we have to play.

Let Norwich & Reading worry about themselves and lets get on with winning these 3 games and I think we will, whatever the situation is after that it won't matter NOT with the way we are playing at the moment.

Great to hear SAM is still interested but sounds like he is watching on with the love of a FAN :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Sam is very much a fan, of course there are matters still to be resolved but at present EVERYONE is concentrating on the pitch and the campaign.

The pressure is enormous at this stage of the season. The team that comes out on top will be the one that copes with that pressure the best. Norwich are full of youngsters with a young inexperienced but very good manager, will they play with a couldn't care less attitude or will the pressure mount and finally get to them? I think it will get to them? Then theres us, a team full of experience who have been through this experience before and will have learned from it with a manager set in his ways but full of experience and not forgetting we have captain fantastic leading by example and dragging the team by it's bootlaces through to the end of the season. Will that experience count? it's a big yes from me - come on you bloobirds :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

good to see sam showing how much he is behind the club, never questioned his passion for the club.
if we win all 3 of our games i'm also confident we will go up. norwich being 1 point ahead could be to our advantage because all pressure is on them. it's theirs to lose now and although they have been consistent throughout the season i think they will slip up in one of their remaining games. :ayatollah:

Sam Hammam the CCFC fan who for all his great work in saving us and taking us to two promotions nearly put us out of buisness. If Sam had stayed at the club we would more than likely have gone into liquidation, certainly at the least administration and we would have been back playing in the lower divisions.

Spot on, he did many great things for the club, but yes he nearly ruined us.

totally right mate
i care about this club too much to ever be able to accept him back here after how recklessly dull he was before in nearly putting this club out of business, whether he's a fan or not

me, you and the next person are obviously bigger fans of this club than Sam will ever be, doesn't mean were fit to run a football club

he's proved that he cant

Re: SAM HAMMAM THE CCFC FAN

dont get me wrong, i loved his enthusiasm for the club, and if he had left this club in a stable position then id be all for him coming back
ive never once questioned whether or not his passion would be a good thing for this club if he were in charge again

BUT there is no arguing with the fact that he left this club on the verge of collapse
people are quick to praise his passion and enthusiasm on here and their right
but whenever i mention about not wanting someone at the club who nearly left us without a club, noone ever responds because its obviously right

SAMs bang on! Long way to go yet and all the pressure is on Norwich now! We are playing very well and I'm confident we will win our 3 games, I fancy Norwich to draw at Derby and we will be in the driving seat!

Norwich are not AT Derby - they are home Andrew. ;)

I can`t see any harm at all in Carl posting Sam`s comments as a fan on here. And that`s from someone like me who often disagrees with some of Carl`s opinions.

I don`t think there are many fans who "despise" Sam , just quite a large number who have said that they don`t want him back involved in CCFC in any position of influence (and to be fair there are a number of fans who would want him back). I also don`t think it is a case of CCMB fans disliking Sam and fans on this forum liking him as I have read a number of posts on both boards both in favour of a return for him and vehemently against the idea - its not a case of two messageboards having unanimous opposite views.

I count myself firmly in the camp of not wanting Sam back involved in the club in any capacity at any time in the future for reasons I have explained on both messageboards , and elsewhere. But that doesn`t mean I "despise" or even dislike Sam. In our many conversations over the years we have always got on well even though he is well aware of my views. As recently as last week when he phoned me (out of the blue in true Sam style) we had a good conversation about CCFC and our chances of promotion (he clearly IS a fan as Carl states) , and also about our children and grandchildren which is another subject dear to Sam`s heart.

It is quite possible for someone to have differing opinions without disliking or abusing each other. Some people (on both of the most populated messageboards) seem to struggle to grasp that idea.
