Cardiff City v Real Madrid official programme

Thu Apr 21, 2011 4:05 pm

Is this rare, or do they crop up from time to time, ie Ebay?

I've started framing differant types of City memorabilia for my pub. The guy who is building our website gave me basically the entire collection of programmes from our European games in the 60s,70s and 80s. From Shamrock, Porto, Den Haag, Torpedo Moscow to Hamburg, Dinamo Berlin through to Aarhus and Standard Liege. They also came with a set of cards that commemorate"Cardiff City in Europe"

The only game i haven't got is that famous night against Real. Anyone got a spare? :D

I got one, my pride and joy off my father still got ticket stub in there, immaculate condition too, also got Fa cup final 1927 signed by Fred and the team, that's in the safe for obvious reasons.

I went to the game and bought a programme, but years ago I gave a load of programmes away, and I think that was one of them. :(

there was this guy in Ferndale ,Cyril Maybee (RIP) Him and his wife were season tickets holders for donkey years. He was having a grant on his house in north rd..Walking past I noticed olde football magazines ..and other un-opened boxes in a skip outside his house..speaking to him..i asked can i have the mags ..and i asked what was in the other boxes,?..his reply was .."just loads of olde city proggrammes which were cluttering the house"...I thought it was Xmas..  ..it took a few journeys to carry the boxes to my house..i spent endless hours putting each season from 1951 to around 80 in order...these included all the glory euro nights etc..the magazines consisted of john buchen football monthly and jimmy hill monthly's .. 8-) 8-)

Yep I've got one of those too. It's 1100 mm x 500 mm in colour and is encased in a sealed plastic laminate. It's been on the grandkids bedroom door for years and fortunately doesn't get direct sunshine so it's like new. What I'd give for that team to run out next game! :notworthy:

There's plenty of Real Madrid programmes on Ebay for about £10 or so, and some have sold higher. But in 'real' terms (pun intended) there are plenty of them around , there were 47500 at the game officially and loads survive. They are not rare , just seemed to sell for a certain price. All the european homes are common and easy to obtain, the Shamrock used to sell for about a fiver but since Ebay prices have fallen, maybe £2 for each of them.

The 1927 final is about £500-£1000 normally, prices have dropped over the years, the 1925 Cup Final is rarer as are the Semi Final and 1927 Charity Shield. Nice mementos though.

Nigel Rees came to my school after the Real Madrid game he had Piri's jersey and I had my photo taken with it on, lost to the ages now. I was there as a 10 year old and got a bit crushed. What a night !!!
