LOW

Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:28 pm

I've made a thread bout this months ago.

The LOW has so much potential.

IMO, to improve, it would need:

1.Advertisement:

Look at the EPL (engerlish premier league), it is advertised on alot of channels nearly or infact everyday and they get alot of revenue from it. International rugby matches, gets alot of advertisement (not as much as the footy) and alot of people watch it. Cricket of all sports gets alot of advertisement. BBC Wales actually mentioning a game in the WPL (Welsh prem) would be a bloody start.

2. Investment:

Local businessmen should be encouraged to invest in their local team. I talked to Bryntirion Athletics chairman when we played the Jacks away (watched it in their club and must say good venue) and he isn't happy bout the big welsh teams (i mean all welsh sides in engerlish system) being in the engerlish system (I know its not investment but I wanted to add it ), because he correctly said to me that most Cardiff/Jacks that go to the game are from out side of Cardiff/Jackland, such as the valleys or Bridgend, Neath - Port Talbort etc, I agreed with him bout that but not that they shouldnt be in the engerlish system.

3. Funding:

The WAG fund £7,500 to football compared to £1.5mil to rugby and £1.5mil to athletics (I think), yes some one quoted me that the welsh football gets funding from the Welsh Football Trust but I'd like to see more from th WAG. The British Government must be spending millions on football (dont know the figures) if they applied for the world cup! And I'm fully aware that Wales doesnt have the money that the Engerlish have.

Those three points IMO could improve the LOW :ayatollah:

What do you lot think? Discuss.

to be honest while the top welsh clubs play in the english leagues there will never be much interest in the welsh leagues no matter how much money is thrown into it!

i try to watch tredegar town when i can [division 3] and i love the honesty of the football played [no jay bothroyd antics] and enjoy it very much! ... but as for the LOW being any stronger, it would need the likes of wrexham, newport, colwyn bay and merthyr joining! ... us and swansea are much to big for it!

merthyr nearly joined following the liquidation of Merthyr Tydfil FC....I think...if Billy's reading he'll prolly say.

Make the LOW a summer league and there would be plenty of interest from football starved fans of Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Merthyr who could follow their local side.
