Ink stains in clothing !!

Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:24 pm

My wife was washing my Sons Gi yesterday when she put it in the drier with her dressing gown with a pen in it :o  Now his white Gi has massive ink spots all over it. Any ideas on how to get rid of said stains ?

Absolutely douse it in Hairspray til its complete soaked through. then sort of gently work it all in with your hands, I got permanent Marker off a leather settee with it!

give it a blast if all else fails. (then re-wash it) :ayatollah:

Thanks for the advice Chiefs or most of it. Brand new it costs nearly £90 with the badge. So it is not Cheap. The Mrs went and bought a cheap one for now as ordering a new one takes several weeks. I have heard of the hair spray one so might give it a go. Will try that one tomorrow but i would of been confident if it had happened in the washing machine, but the drier :o shit it leaked and then got dried in

I always find that 3 grams of weapon grade plutonium does the trick. Erases all those troublesome stains that lefties leave behind. ;)

have you tried turning it off and on again?

Alternatively you can start by spraying the stain with a short burst of hairspray; this will start loosening the stain. The next stage is to soak the stained fabric for half an hour in water to which you've added a half teaspoon of dishwashing detergent per quart (just under a liter). When removing stains from acrylic, nylon, spandex, polyester or the like, you can also add a tablespoon of white vinegar; however this may damage cotton or linen.

If the stain is still evident after the soaking, the next stage is to apply rubbing alcohol (although this is not recommended for ink stains on acrylic). Pour directly onto part of the stain, and some more onto an absorbent pad, which you should place on the stain, covering it completely. As the pad soaks up the ink, replace it with a fresh one soaked in more alcohol. Be sure to keep the stain and pad moist with alcohol throughout the process, and rinse the area with more alcohol before drying the fabric.

If there are still traces of ink in the material, try another soak; this time with half a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of ammonia per litre of water. Let the fabric soak for 30 minutes before rinsing thoroughly in clear water and drying.

if this doesnt work buy a new one you tight b*stard :ayatollah:
