The above link described the aftermath of the two days I spent at Isleworth crown court this week, watching families distraught seeing their men getting sent to prison...I went to see the proceedings to satisfy myself that this judge Edmunds was consistent in his sentencing and he dealt with the Chelsea fans in the same way as the City fans, barely any leniency and jail for the vast majority.
He is following a sentencing procedure he devised at the start of the trial and will use to deal with each defendant...4 types of sentence for Violent disorder and 4 types of sentence for Affray..and a section on its own not covered by the 8 especially for Jason Marriner who got two years because he is Jason Marriner and likes the notoriety in fact what he did on the day would never have resulted in a probable suspended sentence for any other fan...his history and previous record added to his not guilty plea earned him 2 years in jail....mind you he just laughed out loud, said thank you to the judge and chatted briefly to a mate through the glass petition before being taken down.
There were sad scenes there again today with some of the younger lads who got caught up in this mess getting 14 months and their jobs getting lost and seeing their families so upset was not good at all, brought back memories of when my own son went down seven weeks ago.
There was a few cameramen there today and around 8 police officers, I wondered why and then I saw Donal MacIntyre walking through the court, he was getting threatening looks and people were getting very angry at his presence, but he shrugged it off and walked around without a care in the world, doing interviews outside court and apparently he had lots of threats aimed at him but the police followed him everywhere and after Marriner was jailed he walked out and left the court...he had come to see that...there was a cameraman with him and he MAY have been making another documentary, I don't really know.
I did spend a lot of time with Shaun from ESPN , he is from New York and I explained to him how the events happened and showed him the scenes around Fulham Road and the Kings road, he also got a view from the police and also Andy Frain from Chelsea amongst others...he will write an article for his ESPN magazine in the future.
Talking to barristers and the police there, who all seem to know me now( seven times I have attended court there in this case) and to a person they all say that each offence individually would barely warrant a court case, some would of course but generally most of the offences were petty individually, but put them all together with that amount of people in one place and the police and crown can turn all the charges into Section 2 violent conduct and section 3 affray...there were a couple of section 4 but not many...that is why the sentences are high....

Thanks Corky,
I know several of our fans jailed today. I don't think any of our lot were ever going to get less than yours so I hope any suspicion you had now been assuaged. You've been a legend reporting back, spending your time and money on this.
Career hooligans is a ridiculous comment by Judge Martin Edmunds. What in God's name does he know ? Some had 80s convictions when it was a fashionable and relatively risk free pastime. To jail people for longer based on this pre-text is disenguous and a dereliction of his public duty as a Judge. I knew, like many at Chelsea that this game was going to be an old boys outing and many of our guys have not been involved for years. To be honest, I hate the atmosphere at Chelsea now. I remember the seasons when we were garbage on the pitch but we had fun as fans.
I feel desperately sorry for those, including your son, who are caught up in this nightmare. I hope that the authorities, including the police who have benefitted from countless hours of overtime on risk free, completely over-policed matchdays are content that scores of men with families and jobs are serving time at tax payers expense for seemingly very little in what was really two groups of consenting adults engaging in little more than bating and a few swapped punches and missiles thrown.
I know i've said it before but I hope your son recovers from this and is able to put it behind him.
Cheers Tang

Fair play cracking work again Corky keeping us updated. The judge at least consistent. Goes against everything ken Clarke justice secretary wants for convictions though.
In a few months time when a lot has settled and lads coming home, they'll look back at the board and your work.
Further on I can see a book (Annis, give him a publishing deal) or at least a role as an investigative journalist. A bit better than macintyre I bet.

The Sun has gone berserk.......
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/fe ... error.htmlMacIntyre 'attack'......
http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/20813 ... yre_attack2 and a half years the geezer got...........
(id imagine most of that was for the witness intimidation though).....
Sat Mar 26, 2011 9:04 am
That Sun report is ridiculous, they don't blow things out of proportion do they
Sat Mar 26, 2011 10:36 am
The Sun report appears to be one of those you hear about that is written about a year before and they just have a few blanks to fill in when the sentances are handed out, certainly gone for it though havn't they........it would also tie in with what Corky was saying about the press ban til after friday (Sky only reported the sentances didnt they..???)......
At least its clear now why they allowed all these Chelsea to gather near the ground (even though we all thought it), they had to make sure your lot was sent down first (and some of the other Chelsea) to get the 'bigger fish' so to speak....no offence intended by that comment by the way....
Not sure what McIntyre is about when he says he's been running for 10 years.....!! He instigated the situation in the first place.....

Fair play to all you Cardiff lads for not just supporting your own lads but also the Chelsea lads. The sentences dished out were too severe for the crime. Hope the courts dish out more severe sentences for the rioters in London today who committed much more serious crimes then on the day of the match. Probably a fine that daddy will pay!
Alot of sense is posted on this site but alot of bulls**t is posted on other Cardiff fans websites claiming to real Cardiff fans. Being in trouble with Chelsea myself in the 1980's I know what a true fans feelings are & I can tell most of you lads that post things on this site are true fans.
Corky, I've been reading your postings on this site & I only have respect for you & hope your son is released sooner than later.
Good luck to all the Chelsea & Cardiff lads still to go before the court.

macintyre is a fool he was there to wind the boys up and thats what he did im a wife of one of the chelsea men sent down all over done none of them deserved the time they got cant really cant see what any of them did so bad ,there are worse scum bags walking out of the courts today for crimes they should be away for.None of them had drug or drink problems as pointed out by jason if you have a drink problem you go to AA if you have a drug problem you go to REHAB if you get done for football you go to prison. Ayoung boy didnt do that much got agood job never been in trouble got 14 months ,had he robbed a house he would have got a slaped wrist if he had been a pervert he would have got sent on a course to help him ,to much time handed out and im missing a husband
Sun Mar 27, 2011 7:20 am
No way do any of the lads deserve those type of sentence. Makes me sick when you watch these police with camera programmes and Druggies can break into your house, steal your car, drive like F1 driver around the streets with the police chasing them. They at the end they get off with a caution or 100 hours community service.

dont know how to quote so juat copied and pasted the above. Ive held back from joining this forum and posting for a long while as there was a few things in the begining of all this ternhill case i didnt agree that was posted on here from a few posters but thats all gone now with the sentences past etc and will not go into it. Ive followed alot on here and will give corky 10/10 for the time and effort his put in with his reporting. But from what ive seen from the protests up london this weekend there could be 100's who should face jail based on what chelsea/cardiff fans have been given the last few months. Any movement forward from what i gather is violent disorder and at the least affray. So will there be a special unit set up to deal with these crimes?probarly yes,but will they face the same sentences for running from one side of the road to the other as in the chelsea/cardiff case? (with oout landing a punch or throwing anything? and these same people are doing this each demo so theres no argument for its a one of etc. The final straw for me as an englishman was these people wrecking our landmarks and nothing happening, not a majority on heres concern but just goes to show 1 rule for 1, 1 for the other!

McIntyre wrote an 'investigation' which was published in an Irish newspaper on Sunday. Makes out he was threatened in court etc by Marriner. Has anyone else seen it?

Makes me sick just looking at pictures of Donal Macintyre. The man is the lowest of the low of journalistic scum. Makes his living distorting, exaggerating and twisting events to make a living and can evidently sleep with his conscience. I wonder just how naive his sick wife is. The power of the media is dangerous in our world these days and maggots like Macintyre are parasites who feed off notoriety and never let facts get in the way of a good story just to line his own pockets.
Don't ever bump into me Donal.
