Why was Chopra played on the wing?

Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:14 pm

I'm usually one of Jones' biggest fans and i will only on very rare occasions got on his or the team's back, especially after one loss during a good run of form, because i don't think it helps anything, and the people who do so usually dont have a clue what theyre talking about, but...

i genuinely couldnt understand why he played Chopra on the right wing today with Bellamy in attacking midfield, i just could not see the logic behind it.
Even if we had won, i still wouldn't have seen why he did it but we lost anyway. Bellamy is at his most dangerous when he's hugging the touchline and getting in behind the full back but he just didnt get the opportunity to do that today. And Chopra certainly isnt a winger.

JET was outstanding and i was really surprised, to say the least, when he was the one subbed for Burkey, and i definitely would have brought Parkin on for Bothroyd alot earlier because without Chopra playing on the shoulder to get onto Bothroyd's flick-ons, i think we needed a more physical presence up top to hold the ball up better... still cant understand people having such a go at Bothroyd on here mind, he's done wonders for us this season, everyone can hit a bad patch of form, we all need to get behind him to be honest...

So yeah, I'm happy to admit that I think DJ got it drastically wrong today and, in my opinion, he should openly admit that cos i feel that it would earn him alot of respect from his doubters...

But why is everyone getting so downbeat and devastated by this one loss, we have no divine right to beat anyone in this division, were not Barcelona, were Cardiff, its one loss in what's been a great run of form lately and were still right in the mix, we just need to bounce back against Palace now Tuesday...

Also, I thought Hudson and Keinan were brilliant and didn't deserve to be on the losing side, i certainly dont go along with this idea that the goal was Hudson's fault...

Jimmy Bullard won the game for Ipswich today and he's just a class player.

Get over it lads, we'll all be singing Jones praises at the end of the year if he gets us promoted, and we'll rightly be calling for his head if he doesn't, but let's just wait and see which one it is before we get on his back too much huh, even if he did make some awful tactical decisions today... because i still think were going up, definitely :) :ayatollah:

really good post but what worries me is that after DJ finally realised naylor is crap and we hit good form he shows his ineptitude as a manager by yet again playing bellamy and chopra out of position and im certain he doesnt have a plan B. weve got class players who can hide jones s tactical errors to a cerain extent but not to gain promotion out of a really tough league im afraid,i ll be supporting our boys to the end starting with palace on tuesday but its gonna be a very difficult couple of months and i see jones leaving at the end ofthe season

thanks mate, agree with all you said too, but i gotta admit i dont think he makes as many glaring tactical errors as people make out... Chopra on the wing and Bellamy in attacking midfield today was a stinker though sadly

i just thought it was so obvious it needed to be changed today, and i'll only post negativity on here when i think that Jones is missing blatant, common sense decisions

To fill the midfield, offer covet in defence and attack going
Forward and it worked with great effect for long periods.
