Something Smells!

This BBC report below, seems very odd to me, as I'm trying to work out why Derby would loan us their goalkeeper and then loan one themselves!

Am I reading too much into this, as I'm thinking that we must have paid Derby a pretty penny to get Bywater in, for them to have to go out and loan a player themselves?
