I Don't Believe In Bogey Sides.

Sat Mar 05, 2011 9:31 am

I believe that sides percieved as "bogey sides" simply play better than us on the day or take their chances while we may miss ours. I believe other factors play their part, conditions, referee's decisions, Injuries etc. All sides we play in the Championship can be beaten when we play to our potential. Keep a clean sheet and take our chances play disciplined and professionally. There are no "bogey sides" We will win today.

You can believe that if you want. But we played very well yesterday unfortunately our chances did not get put away. Once Ipswich knew they had taken our best punches and were still in it they played really wel led by Bullard. Personally I would have put Parkin on at about 65mins as we weren't threatening up front and needed someone to aim at and counter them physically. No bogey, no curse, no fluke, just beaten by a battling side on the night.

I originally posted about this topic more out of an interest in superstition,,,especially in football, of which there are many examples, both with club, management, players & fans alike. With regards to yesterdays game, one cannot deny that Cardiff City historicaly have an appalling record when it comes to results against Ipswich Town, no matter how well we appear to play against them.

Maybe that's because(and I may be wrong) Ipswich have been a consistently better side playing at a higher level than us for much of the last 30 years!

Qite possibly, but was that the case last night, or last season, or the season before?

No. But it wasn't superstition, Paranormal, supernatural, fluke bogey call it what you like either. Just a case of our chances not finding the net when theirs did!

Whatever, but the fact of the matter is they keep beating us on a consistant basis. I really really hope we are not having this same debate next season.

Yes. Me too. I remain confident that we will get second place so hopefully will not see Ipswich at CCS for a while.

Agreed Evs. We needed a bit more of a physical prescence up front. You never know we might have scored of a corner or a cross! Can you imagine that!
