Fecking bouncing, just going through my paperwork getting stuff in order (no joke promise and no punch line) Letter from Marks and Spencer regarding the renewal of my dogs insurance which I took out last year.
Cost me £150, might seem dear to some but if you ever been to a vet, it's essential. Anyway this letter thanked me for my custom and re-assured me that I had to do nothing because my direct debit from last year would simply carry on for another year and my dog would continue being covered.
Only glanced at the cost before I filed it away and it had gone up from £150 to £254, a £104 increase in twelve months.Rang them to check there was no mistake and the reply was " yes, as a new customer you were given a 15% reduction first year (oh yeh to suck you in)" so i replied "yes but how as it gone up 80% this year then" I then had some bullshit about the dog was a whole year older etc.My God by the time he'd reach ten it would have been a grand a year at those maths.
f**k me, it would have cost more to insure him than my car, I told her politely to shove it up her arse. She did the normal speech and then asked me if there was anything else she could do for me whilst I was on the phone and I said " give me the number of a cheaper insurer who ain't going to rip me off".
f*cking tamping.

Just changed it over to insurance with Argos after a Go compare search and in total it cost £117 for the same cover, a saving of £137 pound, rip off Britain or what.

It's not just pet insurance Gwyn. My car insurance mysteriously went up £400 in 12 months even though I had kept my no claims and had not been involved in any accidents and not changed my car which isn't exactly a sexy wagon as it is but still more than reliable!
Life is too expensive and meanwhile these bankers are getting ridiculous bonuses.

Gwyn
If your dog told me it was £5 a year I certainly wouldn't argue with it.

Same here I
WAS with the Co-op it went up from £245 last year to £363 this year nearly a 50% rise, never had an accident robbing bar stewards. Went on Compare the market and got it for £287 with AXA

Yeah, I ended up with Admiral. It was about £100 more expensive but at least it wasn't £400! You need to shop around these days because they're not shy in shafting you when you're off guard.

Same as car insurance.
I have been with Direct Line for 10 years or so but have never renewed my policy with them.
Every year I enter my details online with direct line (as if I was a new customer) and the price difference between that and my renewal quote is without fail between £80 - £150 cheaper.
I even spoke to them as it was so ridiculous but they confirmed what I was doing was the best way to get a cheaper price.
They rely on people not noticing, being too busy or trusting that they were chepaer last year so should be cheaper this year.
There is no reward for loyalty.
NEVER RENEW INSURANCE OF ANY KIND WITHOUT GETTING A NEW QUOTE.

heres an idea for you, instead of getting ripped off by these pet insurances scams, put 10 quid a week into a seperate account, and use it to pay for any vet bills, before you know it you'll have a tidy sum of money tucked away earning interest for you,and you won't lose money. works for me

on the subject of scams, anyone paying a yearly sum to have their combi boiler covered in the event of a breakdown is a sucker in my opinion.

Your not far wrong there mate. One thing I would say to anyone is just chop and change insurance companies every year if you can get cheaper quotes as they do not reward loyalty in insurance. Just be careful that you read the policy wording and know what you are covered for as I have seen countless of cases where people have been shafted by not checking the policy wording.
After the amount of claims received over winter, expect another hike in insurance prices to compensate for this

My little one is no longer with us but I spent over five grand on vet's bills and she was insured!!! As the bitch (no not the wife she isn't insured) was knocking on in doggy years the premium went up and the insurance companys contribution went down quicker than Jay in the box!! Although in fairness when she died, they wrote off the remaining monthly payments, I think I had at least six months left.
As to car insurance, I don't have mine now, gave it to my mother but she managed to get the car insured fully comp for less than three hundred quid with me (and my step dad) as a named drivers from the same insurance company that had quoted me over two grand for me as sole driver!!
