im sure i read they wont serve just alcohol to anyone on a matchday, you have to have a sit down meal to go with it.

i heard that aswell...

because i guess if it was a football named pub a lot of people would not go in there ,where as they need it to be a busy pub throughout the weekdays and evenings and attract families.....doesnt bother me at all....if people want to go to a city pub the ninian is down the road.

In that place they've officially located the worst pub in cardiff

When does it open?
Thu Feb 10, 2011 1:53 pm
You have to reemember ths is not a football retail park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHILL OUT ffs!
they are attracting the shppers from asda n M&S Smythes n Costco etc
Football is a seasonal thing twice a week - they are not aiming to sell to footie people they want customers & families from the shopping outlet thoughout the week when NORMAL day to day things go on around that area!
Sometimes people get too clouded lol
AND YEAH the "NINIAN" which is a footie pub and doing better to make it feel that way is only down the road - and i can tell you any other day from match day is dead!
Thu Feb 10, 2011 1:55 pm
I reckon the pub/carvery looks nice, I shall be trying it out in due course
Thu Feb 10, 2011 2:07 pm

Even though the Ninian is steeped in Cardiff City history and has been the watering hole for many a generation of bluebird, This new pub would have been an ideal location for the fans (especially the new generation) to gather for a pre-match tipple.
Provided they took that stupid "gotta have a meal with a drink" shit away.
But I grew up knowing the Ninian as the place to be so I may be contradicting myself by saying the Ninian would still be the place for me.

That pub is only fit for pissing on and there's a good few corners on it that are out of view of the pedestrian traffic.
Drink in Canton and piss on the Sandman
Hope the place rots under a sea of bluebird urine.

I'd still go to the Westgate no matter what's it called so not really fussed. I can see why Marston's have the policy they do but even calling it something like 'The Leckwith' would have been neutral and better. I hate generic pub names with their generic designs.
Still, it's up to them. Personally, I think if they called it something that related to the local area and not the actual club I think they'd get the best of both worlds with football fans during match days and other consumers during the rest of the week/year. It's their choice though and I don't know how popular it will be.

NO I WONT keep my comments to myself - this is a public chat board - and i will say what i think - UNLESS I GOT IT WRONG - and opinions are what it is all about!
and at the end of it all the stadium was given planning permission due to the retail park and the surrounding income generators
so dont get childish saying don't comment - and if you post a topic be prepared woith other people not agreeing with you!
simple

They ain't got a clue on commercial ventures down there, they should have opened a Hooters! place would have been busy 24/7 and ramned on the match days
