Jones lines up a swap shop...

Wed Feb 02, 2011 6:45 am

Thats the headline in the mirror this morning.
Cardiff boss Dave Jones is trying again for 750,000 Preston keeper Andy Lonergan- and wants to do a swap with David Marshall. Preston would prefer a cash deal but may take 100,000 rated Marshall in a loan swap. Imo a good move whats others opinions :ayatollah:

That doesn't suprise me

Jones was shaking his head at heaton all night last night with his slowness to get rid of the ball

Watching last night Reading from the first minute played down our left and targeted our left back who as always was found wanting. This position has been a problem all year and if we "un-educated" fans can see it why o why can't both manager and his assistant cant see it. Both Reading goals came down their right hand side and teams have worked out where we are weakest. Naylor will not only cost us a place in the EPL but eventually cost Dave Jones his job. Sticking by old trusted players from the past will not work. He needs to find a hungry defender who will fight to stay in the team. Naylor has no competition for his place and it is showing in his abject performances.

Yeah, I think Marshall is the better keeper. Heaton just doesn't have the height or stretch to reach some shots. Nothing he could do about either goals last night mind but I'd still rather have Marshall in goals.

the thing i dont like about Marshall is when recieving a back pass his distribution is woeful, would like to know where he learnt to kick a ball because they didn't do a very good job in showing him how to deal with a back pass. But the other point also -who decides the fee for a player these days because i think Marshall has got to be worth more than £100,000, you would have to pay that for a league 1 goalkeeper not an international keeper :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Parkin is thus league 1?

There's no absolute value for a player. Numerous factors, ie length of contract, what buying clubs want to offer / selling clubs would accept minimum.

A number of times Heaton was right.

People moaned as heaton wasn't throiwng out to Quinn as they wanted - except McAnuff was hovering by Quinn.

Marshall was in Dempsey's Bar on Jan 2nd watching the Rangers v Celtic match with his family from Scotland coz I was there too ............. 1 day after he pulled out of the Bristol C away game due to " illness " . Jones wont put up with that !

says it all we need a left back for cover, coz what we got now is a joke and all the managers in the championship know it apart from the one managing him.
super kev pushes out, keinan moves to inside and then the cover on the bench, funny thing is we had the cover, someone whos playing well and scored too in gerrard, obviusly wouldnt stir jones tea or fech his paper so was ostrasiezed and sent out.

and now the keeper we as fans see as the best, and baised on the comments about jones body language toward heaton that jones must be seeing as the best, is going out of the doors

it just dont make sence to me, and im not getting 800k a year

I understand about length of contract , what people want to pay etc but why do Cardiff players always seem to be valued at less than players from other clubs eg When Ramsey was sold For 5 million to Arsenal - ok i know they needed the money but so did Southampton when they sold Walcott and Bale but both went for twice as much Ramsey, but are they twice the player as him i think not, even now they talk about Chamberlain going for 10 million , if their youngsters are better than ours how come they are still in league 1,as for Parkin no better than a championship player premiership defenders would be all over him
