Which back 4 for Saturday ?

Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:40 pm

Lets be fair, Watford murdered us up there. Full backs left for dead and centre halfs pulled all over the place. Midfielders nowhere to be seen.

The selection for Saturday is critical. We need a result to keep pace with the top 2 , so who do we pick.

For me the only 2 certainties in the back 4 are Hudson and McNaughton, but who else.

Is it too early for Keinan (sorry about the spelling), he won't have had any time to practise with the others ? If Kev plays centre half with Hudson, which would be ideal due to his pace, who plays full back ?

Naylor played well on Tuesday, but had a new arse ripped in him in the away game at Watford, and Matthews didnt fare much better there, BUT has a bit more pace to deal with their wingers. Quinn has been decent, but isn't quick, maybe his 'nasty' edge might come in handy against their pace. Blake is a BIT more mobile, but was hopelessly outclassed at centre half at Watford, but again did well at RB on Tuesday .

I wouldnt even consider Gyepes !

Its a tricky one, and if DJ gets it right I will be the first to praise him.

and dont get me started on midfield

We should try and get a settled back four so I'd keep the same back four we had for Norwich. Possibly bring Marshall in for Heaton. I'd have Keinan on the bench as a reminder that if they're not doing their job then there's someone who can come in and do it for them. I feel McNaughton and Hudson have been solid together which means we've had a rock back two for the first time this season. Naylor and Quinn are my concerns but we don't have anyone else to put there right now.

Naylor on tuesdays showing. Hudson and Super Kev, and Paul Quinn would be my choices, protected by a midfield with bags of energy, commitment and passion, :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Fully agree Stephen.

I think Naylor will be out for revenge agains Eltons gimps on Saturday. It must've have hurt against Watford, such a poor performance (worse than usual) in such a short space of time on the pitch. Didn't do well against Bristol Shitty either, but has been MUCH better since then. I was one of Naylors fiercest critics, but I admire him now for what seems to be determination to play well.

Nasty Quinn will sort out their left winger. And the two lads at cb will be fine as usual. :ayatollah:
