he was in our end at leeds, and with us at stoke

He was a real gentleman whilst here. He was his own worst enemy. He'd make more blunders the older he got. He left at the right time. However, when he was at his peak he was one of the best centre backs we've had. Especially when he enjoyed various partnerships with Johnson and Loovens at the back.

you have got to be fair darren had real passion for the club, worked hard and gave 100%, he watched leeds vrs cardiff sat in the cardiff end, doing the ayatolla, even at the end when we was all locked in he got the ayatolla started, cant really say any of are current players seem to have his passion, im not saying they havent but dont show it like darren did

Purse was a good captain as well, He always put a shift in never shirked even when things wern't going his way. I thought he was treated shambolically by Jones at times. Yes he made mistake but at least he admitted to them. he was a great servant to the club along with Scimemca was also an excellant ambassador for the club always attending functions and taking time out to speak to the fans. Top man in my book not many footballers who are dropped would sit in the stands with the fans to watch the game , that speaks volumes for Purse as a man as well
