Labour never actually manage to grasp on what is needed to deliver success, they then get bogged down with the unions.
What then happens is that they will lose an election when the truth finally OUTS, and the new Govt (usually conservative - but this time cons and libs) have to pick up the pieces and try and get us back in the black.
Labour is like putting an alco in charge of a pub - it's no surprise that they then max out on their credit card. Labopur are Saturday night and the conservative/libs are the sunday morning clean up.

Harry,
How did the last Government get "bogged down with the Unions?" We still have the most flexible labour market in Western Europe.

Well that’s exactly what the Lib Cons are doing with the NHS in England at a cost of £3 billion.

From what I heard the figures are that 3 billion spend will save 1 billion year on year (that the important bit) , so by the time of the next election if it runs the 4 years - it'll be 2 billion in credit.

Unions still fund Labour quite heavily, without that money Labour would be bankrupt... only difference was, pre-Brown, the unionistas within the party were the silent minority, knowing going out there fighting an election on union issues means they lose election heavily...
Now Red Milliband is in charge, the colours are coming out.

With regards to "Red Ed" I don't see much in his voting record in Parliament that suggests much of a left wing bias at all; you would not expect him to be given that like the Lib Dems and the Tories, New Labour have right of centre economic policies.

Oh, please, union officials are the biggest hypocrites around - Andy Gilchrist's 80k expenses bill for lunches anyone?
Better banking regulation might have avoided some of the current mess, sure. Equally, may well have driven away a lot of the financial industry from Britain causing evern bigger problems. Who knows?
Brown et al; knew the good old Labour approach would no longer be tolerated by a voting public. Milliband much the same, one face publicly, the other still the discredited policies of envy and jealousy...

Brown had to go - he was not Prime Minister material and the last New Labour Government were too authoritarian for me; I like David Davies' views on personal freedoms - I did not vote Gordon Brown. The people in this country who have long memories and can remember the last Tory Governments did not vote for them either. It's going to be great fun watching the Lib Dems vaporise for allowing another Tory led government to have a go - against the will of the people.
