Jay may go. Jay may stay.

One thing is for sure, it's easy to pick on the agent. There's no way Jay would go to any club if he didn't want to, same as any player.

agents should be banned, i hate them with a passion, always turning players heads and only looking out for themselves  . I got big respect for andy o brian as he doesnt have one and sorts it out himself, so fair play to him :D

I know the player has to agree, obviously! But the agents 'get in the players ears' and put ideas in there head. I know they're only doing their job but Jay's agent doesn't need to look smug on the box while he's touting Jay around-he's just moaned that the players pay loads of income tax................FFS I'd love to be paying the tax they pay, there's a good reason for it!!!££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££wages :x :x :x

Jay features quite prominently on Sky Andrews website. His England cap did a lot for the agents profile as well as his own. The transfer of jay to a top Premier Club would no doubt increase his the agents profile even more. He's a clever bloke. Gonna be squeaky bum time for us the next fortnight regarding jay. http://www.skyletandrew.com/news/index.html

Agents are needed because quite frankly most players are thick as pigshit business wise. If for example, Jay's head was turned by Sunderlands interest, it would be Jay whose head was turned because he wanted Prem football. Any agent would be remiss if they didn't provide their clients with available opportunities.

If agents were banned, the vast majority of players would get utterly screwed over by clubs.

O'Brien is a rare exception.

No, not an agent. Fact is, they do their job.

The bad old days, maximum wage et al, players were royally screwed over. Agents are something that's been needed as the game has progressed. For every agent we perceive as turning our players heads, well, we've no doubt had players heads turned on other clubs we've acquired.

An agent is employed by a footballer to represent themselves and their services. if they don't present possible opportunities to their clients, they are failing in their duties.

Are there bad agents? Sure, and those need to be rooted out of the game.

Good points, well put.

Guess we hear more about bad agents than good one's.

My original point was about Sky Andrew, as an agent and employed by Jay I guess he was only doing his job. As a CCFC fan, I didn't like him grinning like a cheshire cat when talking about the possibility of going to Sunderland.

It is easy to blame agents for all players leaving clubs, wouldn't surprise me if players pay agents extra to appear responsible!

What ever the case, I hope Jay is still with us come Feb 1st!!

Agreed I hate agents and they take far too much money out of the game, but they work for us as much as against us. We have all heard the reference 'tapping up' which means that very club is banned from approaching players under contract at another club without permission.

However, agents basically get around this as they talk to each other in order to find out if payers would be interested in joining or leaving clubs.

It is not ideal, but at present there isn't another system to replace it.

Great, now SSN have edited the smug bit out-so I look like I made it up!!

I can assure anyone who didn't see him live that I didn't imagine it!!

What I would say, from everything I've heard and read about him, Sky Andrews is a good agent.

All players want to be in the Prem - it's the top league in the structure we're in.

I'd be more annoyed if Jay or anyone else didn't want to play there, were content to pick up their wages at this level. That would show a lack of ambition.

Virtually every club is a selling club, we have to face facts. We've massive debts. We've let Jay, like Ledley, run their contracts down. That's where the club is failing as a business - either tie the contracts up to prevent them getting into the final year or maximise the money we get.

If an offer is acceptable, I can't see justification in keeping Jay. Sure he's a cracking player, but gambling upon one player enabling us to get into the prem where problems will magically be solved is Ridsdale-esque in it's approach. We've simply got to start balancing the books in the event we don't go up. The Malaysians may well keep the club ticking over, but they'll want their money bac at some point, after all.

I thought we would have been able to hang on to Jay originally but this Bent transfer from Sunderland to Villa is bound to have a knock on effect in the transfer window. It's going to be difficult for us to hang on to him now. I just hope Dave Jones has a ready made replacement to bring in.

if you watched and listened properly to jays agent he pointd out that 1st priority is where is best for the player ie happy contented playing good football then the money comes next as a bonus

Sky Andrew is the same nob who advised Sol Campbell when he was at Spurs and his contract was winding down! Sol said he loved Spurs and wanted to sign, few weeks later him and Andrew are grinning like cheshire cats after signing for Arsenal!!!!!! Dont trust him at all and despite what Jay and Jones say I feel that Andrew will have something up his sleeve! Most agents are idiots, look at Joe Ledleys!!
