It said on the radio it was for an ex player that is seriously ill with cancer and that player scored in a cup game years ago wearing those colours

Just googled it.

1969 FA cup winning captain Neil Young has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Man City beat Leicester in that final.

Sad news but a nice tribute to a Man City great.

What a shame.

I saw that game.

Strangely enough I only posted in the early hours today in response to Daya that my Dad was the insurance agen for the club in the 40's and 60's and knew Graham Keenor then the cllub secretary well.

We were going up to London for my brothers engagement party . Half jokingly my father told Graham that as he had followed the club for over 40 years i he deserved some cup final ticketss . "I'll see what I can do, but we don't get many " Graham told him.

A few days later we popped into the ground as my dad had to see someone there. As we walked past the Grandstand one of the windows opened Graham looked out ansd shout4ed nto my dad "They are in the post Hywel"

We ended up in the Man City end ( I nwas wearing my Bluebird scarf, perhaqps not a good idea as Leicester of cpourse playb in the same colours as us!!

However the fans we were in with were a good natured lot particularly when my dad explained that we were Bluebirds fans and not from Leicester.

By no means a classic finall but the one goal did go in at our end. It was Neil Young who scored as well
