Why Are We In Debt?

Sat Jan 08, 2011 3:30 am

this may sound like a stupid question but i have not been a city fan for years. i have always had an interest in city but there was never anyone to take me (not a very good excuse i know) but now i go regular im only 17 and i wasnt around when we were in league 2.. well i wasnt into football anyway and i've always heard stories of us being in debt and people saying it was his fault or there fault and so on and so fourth but i have never really known why. so i thought id ask people who have been around for years and people who have more insight into the club than i have so i would really appreciate it if somebody could clear it up for me please.

Because THe Riddler Ran up over £40 Million worth of Debt on His Own, Also the Riddler and PMG took a £10 Mill debt on from Sam/Langston and Never paid them Back, Yet Sam left The Club with Millions of £'s Worth of Future Talent(Sold by THe Riddler for over £20 Mill) and Out line planning for the New Stadium Worth Millions..

Bolton Football Club - you probably would not describe them as "profligate". Last year they lost £30m; their debts went up by £30m in one season. Expensive business Premiership Football. "The promised land?" We'll see.........or I would like to think that we will see!

No Sam left us with debt also and Ridsdale added to that but we would not have got planning permission or a new stadium had not Ridsdale been involved. Sam would never have got the stadium done and dusted. And 'millions of £s of future talent' i not £s in the bank or guaranteed future income, that's naive at best

Sam Left us with an Accademy Worth Millions,Also players like Roger Johnson, Loovens, Alexandra,Ledley, Chopra etc etc and Out line planning for the New Stadium Worth Millions. Plus later Reduced it to £10 Mill, Sam left us with Assets farout weighing any Debt, THE RIDDLER MADE THE BIG DEBT A FACT and NEVER PAID BACK ANY OF THE £10 Mill after agreeing to, even after SElling ALL OUR ASSETS.

C'mon Annis Peter did a great job here-have you not seen his latest interview on BBC South West? He got CCFC to an FA Cup final, a play off final and he moved us into a new stadium. The debt was all histoical and when he took over we were almost bankrupt.

if the assets are worth more than the debt, is it a debt, if the potential is there, is it a debt or an investment or even a gamble, if at the very worse (as many clubs have done, but we have proudly avoided) we went into admin owing say 4o million, then dropped down a league and restarted with a new stadium and a clean slate, would that have been thaat bad or good business sense even.

Most people on here have or aty the very least had to go into debt, when they get a mortgage for the house, when they buy a car etc, why is it we look at debt as such an evil, the majority of big business's are massively in debt, but they still grow and still borrow.

Do you know how much debt the U.S.A. is in, get used to it, the days of saving your money in a tin until you had enough to buy something are long gone, keep up at the back. 8-)
