Are we cowards?

Thu Jan 06, 2011 1:42 pm

Firstly I was delighted to see both the fan and players turn up against Leeds. It was a great night and a great relief after recent displays. However, as i've repeatedly stated on this board, and to anyone who knows me, one good performance doesnt put right some of the abject, souless displays weve been forced to endure this year by arguably our best squad in living memory. DJ's tactics and selection in a lot of our games this season have been woeful and for that reason i personally do not believe he is the man to get us up. If I m wrong I'll happily hold my hands up!

Despite Tuesday being a great night what has really stuck in my throat is DJ's programme notes. If you have read them he basically thanks all those who have stood by him and then calls all of those who were calling for his head "cowards". I find it remarkable that a manager can call long time fans of the club "cowards" for their belief that he hasnt been doing a good job. Afterall the fans help to pay his significant wages and have supported the club long before his arrival and will do so long after his departure. Whether we are right or wrong for calling for his head is one thing but for the manager of our club to call a large proportion of the fans such a strong word is abysmal. The majority of those who want him out have not resorted to personal mud slinging yet he has! Some fans who want him out have fought in the armed forces, are they "cowards"? Are we all "cowards" for suggesting that the team could do with a change of management when we have been forced to watch his teams bottle it again and again during his tenure?

Michael Chopra came out and said honestly that himself and the team hadnt been playing well recently and they deserved the criticism, fair play to him, is it too much for DJ to have done the same and admit that at times he has got it badly wrong this season rather than insult the fans.

He keeps talking about those who want him out as havng "agendas" but the only agenda i think we all have is to want the best for CCFC. I sincerely hope we go on a run now and get promoted but im fast losing a lot of respect for Dave Jones as a man and a manager!

I didn't read the article but if it's how you say then I think it shows these 'cowards' to be better people than DJ.

For the good of the team most who want DJ out have remained silent on the matter during matches and have concentrated on supporting the team.

If Jones can't handle what people think, talk or write then he's in the wrong job.
The more he talks more dislikeable he becomes.

Agree with that Jonesy needs to take responsibility like the players have, Tom Heaton did a great interview after the Bristol game taking the flack for the players when it seemed alot wouldn't come out and speak. Jones never seems to admit fault.

We all make mistakes, no ones perfect and if DJ came out and said they had got it wrong recently I would respect him all the more but to call fans "cowards for questioning his decisions and positions is not on and I cant believe that word was allowed to be printed in the match programme!

You said what most were thinking Milly  And Jimbo top post. If Jones had a personality, if he was humble, if he didn't think he was better than Brian Clough, He blames everyone bar himself but a big but if he ever said i got it wrong and i will learn from it we would respect him. As a person i do not like him sorry but that is just me.

Dave Jones never admits to his mistakes, every time someone says something he'll backtrack and avoid the question. He's a bit of a joke when I watch him in an interview.

You and DJ are like two peas in a pod :D
