Point is, that won't necessarily work.

Like him or not, we hoofed it, Keogh was actually winning some in the air. We simply had nobody there to pick up the knock downs.

Parkin isn't the quickest, so we're losing mobility, making us play more long ball if Parkin plays. Unless Dj changes things to free more midfielders to get to the knock ons, it won't help us.

Equally, with the pace we have, we're more suited to counter attacking than anything else, which I'm not convinced parkin will help with.

Realist.

Parkin definitely would have a role at the club, could see him coming on making a difference late on in games. Just he doesn't seem a great fit considering the makeup of the squad, which tends to lend itself more to a quick passing game.

well at least bringing him in gives us perhaps a more suitable plan B, watching him on utube he looks pretty descent in the air!!

Like I said in the stickied thread - Parkin will help Jones because now we have two target men, altho to be fair Jay is much more than just a target man.

With Parkin at least we have the option of a different Tactic to the game.

He does not get pushed around by defenders and can stand his ground easily. All he needs is the knock downs to feed Chopra, Bellamy & Witts. He's not one for the premiership but he might help us get there.

Can't wait to see him in the team.

of course,he brings that edge that jay doesnt have of staying on his feet, for the money a good buy,and yes a bit like crouchy, not always going to start but he got the edge to change a game,a good buy in my opinion :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

He is decent in the air, sure. Just not the most mobile except when running at Gyepes.

Problem is, unless DJ gets players breaking onto his flickons, unless we play with real width rather than players on the side of their weaker foot, it's not necessarily going to be effective.

Bellamy plays wide, sure, but he's not a traditional winger in terms of being known for quality crossing. Whittingham, sure, but better on left than right. So you'd be looking at Whitts left, Burke right - so where then for Bellamy? Up front / off Parkin? Chopra dropped?

We're not set up to play the Wimbledon style route one; the players we have are more suited to a quick tempo passing game. That's why I see Parkin as more of a plan B battering ram to use when losing late on in a gam that someone competing to start regularly.
