There is no question that DJ is a good manager and I really respect him for everything that he has done for us and what we have achieved in recent years. I'll never forget the times we had at Wembley and for years we have sung 'we're off to Wembley' and I never really thought I'd ever see my beloved Bluebirds in an FA cup final.
DJ achieved these feats during a time of severely limited resources and with the whole Ridsdale show going on in the background. He stuck with us when many would have walked and I feel we owe him the opportunity to put things right. I think he should be allowed to carry on but must take some assistance to put things right. The guy is now under unbearable pressure, he must know that the malaysians have gambled on us reaching prem league this season and there must be serious repercussions for the club if we dont achieve it. This pressure is also on the players who must be stressed and tense and this stifles their ability to express themselves on the pitch and to do what they normally do best.
What worries me though is that everybody can see our weakness at left back and yet DJ has not worked to resolve this. Surely he knows it is our weakest position. Naylor is a liability and even I as a former parks player can see his positioning is completely wrong and he lacks pace and is not actually a very good tackler so how he is our first choice left back I'll never know. The goals we have conceded, over 50% have come wrong our left hand side.
We have fantastic players in Bellamy, Chopra, Whittingham, Burke, McPhail, Olifinjana but has he ever got all of them to tick at the same time. As a manager he is charged with the responsibility of making the most of the resources at the club but he is simply not achieving this. Last year Adam Matthews was the next big thing but all of a sudden he doesnt merit a place in our squad. Last year we we're really exciting going forward and alot of that was down to Matthews surging runs and combining with Burke but this season we're nowhere near the penetration and intensity of last years attacking force.
Unless some radical changes are made I really cant see a way out and feel very negative about our prospects right now. Please DJ sort it out, I dont want you to leave us as you deserve to be the man to take us up.
