January 2011

Sat Jan 01, 2011 9:14 pm

I have been unable to go to the last two away games due to one thing or another but have lived every moment at home, suffering just almost as much as the unfortunate fans who have spent over £100 over Christmas travelling to Watford and Bristol to watch two very poor performances.

This is a critical time now for everyone connected with the club in my opinion...I have no inside info or insight into the minds of the people running the club but it seems to me that January could be make or break, unless of course the Malaysians have thick skin and will persevere even if we are unsuccessful.
We have 17,000 season ticket holders, that is incredible but remember we have not sold a single season ticket for 2011-2012....a continuation of the last two months rubbish from the team and we fail again and I can see us lucky to get 11,000 renewing...of course I can’t be sure of this but many fans are getting more and more pissed off with things.
Dave Jones going or staying don’t bother me, if we win promotion with him I will be happy for him, if he is sacked and another manager comes along well we will have to get behind the new guy, Dave Jones can have no complaints, nearly £800,000 a year rolling contract...his family are made for life so I won’t be worried about his future.
The whole club needs a lift now, Jon Parkin has listed my spirits a little bit but we seriously need Jay Bothroyd fit, two centre half’s, and probably 2 full backs...missing out on O’brien annoyed me because I had heard that he had actually been down here for talks.

Anyway my point is we have had 8 weeks of poor football and have now dropped to 5th a realistic position considering the crap we have been playing...Dave Jones may get the dreaded vote of confidence soon, the sack or be given money to further add to the squad...who really knows?
What we do know is that it is unlikely we could attract huge crowds next season if we fail again and I am positive the Malaysians are more than aware of this..January could define our future
