Jay Bothroyd - off 606

A pre-contract agreement has been presented to Jay Bothroyd, these are common in the general commercial world, but relatively rare in football.
Basically Jay stays with us until the end of the season, and if we get promoted a contract is on the table which includes "A substantial signing on fee" and it will make him the highest paid player in the history of Cardiff City Football Club, "A salary commensurate with his position as an international striker at a middle ranked premiership club". The figures are confidential, but are said to be "impressive".

What this means is if Jay stays with us he will be earning the same as he would get at any premiership club that would be liable to sign him (with all respect to Jay, none of the "big boys" are likely to be interested).

The club are prepared to take a gamble on winning promotion, as they are prepared to resist any but the most ridiculous bids for Jay in the transfer window IF he signs this agreement, if he doesn't sign then expect the club to listen to January bids. If (and it's a big IF) we don't get promoted Jay can leave on a free in the Summer with the clubs blessing should he wish to.

This agreement has been on the table since before Christmas, and Jay is said to be seriously considering it.

The worry from the clubs point of view is Jays parasite (sorry agent)...............if he persuades Jay not to sign, then he gets a cut of any transfer fee, however Jay is said to be very much his own man and not as influenced by his agent as some players. The whisper at the club is Jay is waiting to see who the club bring in in January, and if he is satisfied that the clubs ambition matches his own, then he will sign the agreement towards the end of the window.

So will Jay stay with the promise of "jam tommorrow"?

That guy claimed American investors were talking to the Malaysians recently. His brother knew, see, as his brother worked for a law firm in Cardiff. Conveniently, that "deal" fell through. Amazing, eh?

No he's no Carl. But make of him what you will. I know him and I know he isn't a liar. He isn't someone who is well known or who has connections with club employees or with fans.

He's a normal fan. And a lot of the things he said just before the Malaysians came in was correct. He could be wrong. But he isn't a bullshitter.

I don't think he's a deliberate bullshitter.

He may be told things which are utter bullshit, like the American investors one.

I'm sure he's a nice guy. I've just never read anything that hasn't either been posted elsewhere or derived from posts elsewhere, tbh.
