Can anyone explain the logic in Parkin signing for us?

We have a dynamic and speedy front five (not Keogh of course) and we have added Parkin to it, why? Gives us something different? Genuinely shocked when I found out this signing (on here first of course!) Vaughan - yes, Parkin - no. But will give him a welcome and get right behind him on Tuesday if he plays.

Good luck to the guys at Ashtip Gate today, will be listening to the game while driving to Leeds to visit my sister. Be back for the Tues game against them.

100k ? for big bad striker ? we would of had to pay over the odds for howard about 2 mil for holt charlie austin we could still get. just back him he gives 100 percent effort and defenders hate playing against him. he type of player fans will take to . i think it great bit if business 100 k . means we can possibilty spend more on defence and a winger ,

I think its a good deal also , we have moaned about not having a Target man , now we'll have one , and at a bargain price . So let's give him our support and see what happens .

If Jon Parkin was our only signing then yes I would be disappointed. However he appears to be part of a number of signatures that we have planned and I think the signing needs to be considered in this respect.

Lets look at our game with Preston.

If you thought Parkin did nothing when he came on then perhaps he is a waste of money. However if, like me, you think that he was a pain in the ar$e and created opportunities (against a top 2 side) then £100k seems money well spent.

I think it could work out as a good signing. The number of times Burke, Whitts and Bellamy etc put in a decent cross and there is no striker attacking the ball. I think he is a great option to bring off the bench when we are struggling to break down a team in games this season like Preston, Forest, Swansea . For 100K its not a gamble.

What's ironic about the signing is we need defenders who can get the better of big attackers, so he should do well in training routines as well
