Miguel Commingues

Thu Dec 30, 2010 5:50 pm

His loan to Carlisle has ended. He only managed one appearance with them and Carlisle are saying they need better. So its not worked out for him there.

So that brings me onto what I want to debate about. If you had to choose between Commingues and Naylor who would you go for?

From what I have seen of Miguel and what I have witnessed of Naylor I am going to say it would be a close call depending on which way the wind is blowing. Thats my opinion.

Discuss.

Naylor by quite some distance for me, Naylor is dodgy defensively but I do think he offers quality going forward and gives us balance.

Agree Naylor is a better player with a better footballing head, but Balance??? not on the left aye.... :?

I agree for Carlisle to say hes not good enough in league 1 just proves hes way way out of his depth in this league.
Naylor has good qualities going forward and is always good for the odd goal. Not very good defensivley and a bit slow but what qualities does commingues have? ........................

I was going to reply to everones post but I would only be repeating myself. I have to agree Naylor gives us more of an option when we are going forward. My real concern though is that I never saw Miguel being turned and left standing as much as Naylor has done. This also taking into account that Commingues is not a left back but a right midfielder. If he was playing against Watford I'm sure most of those crosses would have not been completed.

When Naylor doesnt play and we have a right footer at LB we dont look the same and IMO we lose balance

Going off on a tangent, the thing with Naylor is he is usually poor - but against Watford he was a disaster. What worries me is that it looked like they knew this already, and targeted him on purpose. If more teams do this, then he will get shown up again like Tuesday. I think any player in our team at left back would have been an improvement on Naylors 37 minute cameo :(

All the games I saw Commingues play at left back the opposing team made him a target. After seeing the way Watford attacked Naylor it just reminded me of Commingues. Personally I just felt Miguel would have done a better job against Watford but as you say so would anyone else.

Could we get away with playing Whitts at lb for a few games while we find a proper replacement? I'm worried Naylor will be damaged goods after being taken off so early, some players crack from that.

What else do you propose then as a temporary measure? He played there a few times for Villa.

And no need to snipe.

McNaughton at left back, Matthews/ Darcy/ Quinn at right back. Or... we sign a new left back! :D

Comminges is without doubt the worst player I have seen with us since Spencer Prior.

Someone posted a classic line the other day when they said a traffic cone with a sign on it saying please don't cross would have been more affective than Naylor was at Watford

This is an interesting question and I'm also unsure on the right answer, but as Naylor is just so bad recently Commingues just might be the right shout.

Let's be honest, they're BOTH shite and undeserving of a place in the City starting line-up....

Quicker we replace the better....

We DO have alternatives in the squad already but either their injured or DJ just doesn't want to play them....

This transfer window is going to be VERY interesting....

I can remember Whittingham filling in as a left-back when he came here a few years ago. Is he an option if Routelege signs?

Commingues no shadow of doubt, at least he would make some contribution to the game! mmmmmm or would he? :ayatollah:

As said above commingues is a right midfielder. Not a particularly good one either. Not good enough for carlisle.

I beleive as of today he's out of contract anyway.

Besides which i still have nightmares about his performance in the carling Cup game at the Liberty when he played LB and was skinned, either by Butler or gower, who are hardly world class.

Its not an option lads, we really need to bring a decent LB in, which is ironic because a year or so ago we had 3 and a midfield full of lefties.

In the meantime Blake, Quinn or Matthews (preferably not matthews at the mo IMHO) to play Rb and kev to move accross, not ideal and hopefully can be solved by signing a quality LB in the next few days. I'd rather money spent on that than Vaughan (we've got Chopra, Keough or Bellamy to play the 'small striker' role and now parkin and Jay for the targetman) TBH. Won't complain if we get both though -and at least 1 decent centre half.
