THOSE OF US AGAINST JONES

Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:31 am

If the potential for a new manager was taken away from consideration - such as the Malayasians saying Dave Jones will definitely be here until the end of season etc - would you back him?

I think him seemingly being given the go ahead to start shopping is a clear indication of who will be managing us at the end of the season, regardless of results in the near future.
So, if this is true and the 'limbo' of us possibly getting a new manager is taken away, will there be full support for DJ from all fans? Will we who are not enthralled by his style/results/attitude suck on a lemon and support him?

The most important thing is that both sides of the argument want the same thing - promotion. We just like to go about things in different ways. I wish I could be optimistic, but if there was an option of getting a new man in charge, I would take it - and while there is this 'limbo' then I will continue to do so.

Any opinions?

You ask "WOULD YOU BACK HIM??"

I find it hard to believe you have to ask!! ANYONE (and Annis is a great example of this) who TRULY loves the Bluebirds will put the personalities aside for the rest of this season and GET BEHIND DAVE JONES AND HIS TEAM!!

And let's not forget the part VT appears to be playing here by releasing the cash....whatever SOME (not many) believe his motives are!!

C'mon, this could be OUR time!!

Sorry mate but this "limbo" as you put it doesn't exist. The Malaysians have never indicated that Jones job is under threat at any time and all talk of a new manager is just wishful thinking by the anti DJ brigade. :ayatollah:

You have read me wrong here, I've said nothing about not supporting the team! One constant amongst people against Dave Jones has been undoubted loyalty to our players no matter what. I will support the players through anything, even if we had lost 6-nil on tuesday :D . I, like many others, will not let whoever is managing get in the way of my loyalty to our players.

That however doesn't stop people holding personal opinions on whether the manager is good enough or not, should be replaced or not....unless people are constantly calling for his head at matches.

In fairness though, if you used that rationale, then Brian Clough and Shankly would be still at their respective clubs being kept alive chryogenically ala something from a sci fi movie.

No one is disputing what he has done in the past (one play off appearence though), but you can't just use the few good results of his reign and not look at all the not so good points (I won't bring them up now, other people have brought them up elsewhere)

My idea of supporting the team is during the 90 minutes of a game, thats if I am there, I will get behind them be it vocal or in mind. I will clap or praise when we put it together or we give it a go. If a player is struggling I will encourage him. If the referee goes against us I will join in with the protest, if I think he is wrong of course. Summing up I will do all I can to support the team while watching from the stand.

My idea of not supporting the team during the 90 minutes is shouting "Jonesy Jonsey sort it out". I will not boo a player if he gets substituted or boo the team during the game. I might boo after 90 minutes but that is different. Think that about covers the 90 minutes on the pitch.

With regards to Jones putting out his team the above rules apply. After the 90 minutes its a different ball game.

Hopefully, I didn't give that impression BUT it baffles me how people can seperate the manager from the team. Surely what affects one affects the other????

I've never said he doesn't make mistakes and occasionally comes across wrong BUT I defend his record since he's been here on league position alone and I sincerely doubt many could have done better or even stuck around after some of the shennanigans that have gone on....regardless of how much he is paid

I will ALWAYS defend the right of individuals to have their say regardless of whether I agree with them BUT I will, as always, be open and honest of with my own assessments of the motives of some (currently led by the very negative and inventive My Opinion And Mine Only)

Pretty much spot on, that is how I see it.

I'd better point out too, I have no ulterior motives for this thread - I merely want to create a debate regarding what has been discussed.

Dont think I answered the question though. :?

Well first of all I expected Jones to be allowed to stay. I think the criteria of giving him money if we are still in an auto place was more of a sign of discontent from the Malaysians. If DJ was doing a good job they would have just said there is money available. The fact they put in criteria told me they were not that comfortable with him. I mean they have given him everything yet he has just kept an auto spot by the skin off his teeth. DJ is leading a charmed life.

So he has crossed the line and managed to stay his execution. That is we are stuck with him now until the end of the season. Well that is unless he totally blows it in the next month or so when it will be too late to recover from. Then it will be a simple case of get rid and bring someone else in to rebuild. In the meantime while we are still in with a chance we are stuck with DJ.

So lets keep to the we are still in with a chance scenario. Will I support DJ? Well regardless of what manager we have in situ I will support the team. If we start winning our games I will start supporting our manager. That to me is the only way I will support him as I believe he has been allowed to build the best squad in the division and we should be expecting a better return than what we have had in the last 2 months, rightly so as well. Now if he had a mediocre squad and got us to 2nd like we are now I would be delighted and be right behind him. However we have a quality squad and we are lucky to be in 2nd, we are 3 points better off than last season yet have a far superior and quality squad. Hence that is why I am uncomfortable and I am struggling to get behind him.

I would always back anyone who is attached to the city, but I believe Jones has taken us as far as he can.
No respect for us supporters which is what we are built on - passion!
