I'll admit lat year i was one of the Hudson critics but now can't anyone else see he has by far been our best defender? saved us on countless number of occasions but like usual city fans are blinded by last years performances wake up and watch him this year!!!!

He is a Very Skilful/battler but to Slow in My Opinion and Not Worth £14,000 a Week. He was on £9,000 a Week at Charlton in a Relegation Team.

None of our players are worth that (except Bellamy), and we shouldnt be criticising the player because of his wages (blame Ridsdale for giving it to him) but some posters refer to him as shit, useless, etc.. and I'm sure you've seen worse - stuff I wouldnt wish on Gary Monk. Its embarrassing to see fans saying stuff like that about a player who might not be Rio Ferdinand, but is doing a decent job for us. I've listed where he's played and where they have finished, all the managers he's played under etc.. and still there are many who cant accept that he's a reasonable Championship centre half.

If we get a fit Woodgate and Riggott builds on what he's done then great we'll have 2 of the best in the division, but until then he's ne of the first on the teamsheet for me.

The odd mistake (in all honesty, who doesn't??) but BY FAR the best of the 3 or 4centre backs we've tried this year....

I thought Blake was the answer last year....but he's gone backwards faster than a Ray Wilkins pass!!

Have to say Riggott looked 'promising' on Sunday and I believe he would have made a difference versus Watford

Hudson PLUS one tidy player will suffice for me....

We need 3 new players along the back, 2 centre backs and a left back. Naylor is one of the worst Left backs ive seen on times.

McNaughton is our best defender by a mile and the only reason Hudson could be considered as our second best defender, is because the rest of the defence is abysmal!

hudson is just like purse, getting on, no pace, prone to making mistakes, gave away the penaltty agaisnt watford! , he'll have one good game then 6 poor games, not good enough for a chasing promotion team

I never slate payers i just say what i do not like abot their play - it is IMO of course and as a paying fan i think im quite entitled to voice this each game

We need at least a couple of new solid defenders that have the PACE, STAMINA, SPEED, ABILITY to read play & AGILTY (Hudson is not an agile player he is very awkward) and the abilty to play in position - the amount of games the defenders have been all over the field that has cost us this season is too many!

Hudson is rubbish, slow and very easy to out think. When Im watching him it seems that Hudson give the attacking players too many options and they then get past him very easily.

Interesting you say that, like to back it up with any examples, because for all his limitations, I dont remember him getting skinned by anyone -excpet the Cov player in the corner last week.

His lack of pace is more a problem in that it causes him to back off too much - something which he did far less of when riggott was alongside him.

Aren't pace and speed the same thing.

Take a look at the rest of the Championship defenders - I dont see any pace in the opposition we play week in wek out.
If he had pace to go with his tackling, heading and positional play he'd be in the Premier league now.

As for being pulled around, with wingers who never come back, midielders who arent mobile and dont think they should have to track their men and at least 1 full back 9on occasions its been both) who gets turnwd inside out its hardly suprising the centre halfs get pulled around.

Ben. I ended up in the Watford end, at the front of the stand behind the goal, so it was right in front of me. It was NEVER a penalty, even the watford fans around me seemed embarrassed by it.

Name his poor games this season - if he has 6 out of 7 poor ? If he'd had them he would have been ripped apart on here, but its noticably quiet week-in-week-out as he's dong little wrong.

apart from Jay, who's injured half the time,he's probably been our most consistent player this season.

Personally i think Hudson has been a scapegoat for some time but i personally think he's done a very good job this season.On tuesday if it were'nt for him & Mcnaughton things could have been worse.Blake, Naylor & Mathews defending was shocking at this level.

One thing he cant be accused of is lack of passion unlike some of our other players.

He is great at blocking and basic defensive duties but a bit on the slow side
